San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur, March 14, 2018.
The Airport Council International (ACI), the association of airports worldwide, recognized Los Cabos Airport as the second best airport in the Latin America region and the Caribbean.
Through the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) program, the ACI distinguishes airports each year due to its Quality in Passenger Service. This month the distinctive of the year 2017 was announced, in which Los Cabos Airport is recognized as the second best aerodrome in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, among those that serve more than 2 million passengers per year.
ASQ is a global program through which satisfaction surveys are carried out to passengers during their stay at airports, with the purpose of measuring their perception in 34 key performance indicators, among them: Waiting times in the different processes, cleaning, image, courtesy and attention.
The measurement process consists of a scale of one to five, with one being the lowest rating and five the highest. The final result of the Los Cabos Airport in the “Overall Satisfaction” is a score of 4.44 out of 5.
During 2017, more than 340 airports from all continents participated, of which 29 corresponded to the Latin America and Caribbean Region, and only seven Mexican airports aspired to such mention: Los Cabos, Guadalajara, Tijuana, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Culiacán and Monterrey.
Los Cabos Airport was placed just behind Guayaquil Airport, Ecuador; which was awarded as the best airport in the region. In the third place, the Nassau Airport and the Punta Cana Airport were tied.
Among the award-winning airports in the other regions are: Indianapolis (IND), Jacksonville (JAX), Abu Dhabi (AUH), Sochi (AER), Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM) and Casablanca (CMN).
The award will be presented at the award ceremony of the first Global Summit of Excellence in ACI Customer Service and will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; from September 10 to 13, 2018.
These awards have been made since 2006. Puerto Vallarta achieved the fifth place in 2013, Mexico City and Monterrey the third in 2007 and 2015, respectively.
This award represents the highest possible recognition for airport operators and is an opportunity to celebrate the commitment and dedication of Los Cabos Airport to continuously improve the passenger experience.
