Doña Pame, as the South Californians affectionately call this lady who at 91 years of age, has been recognized as a forerunner in the gastronomy of the State, starting with sacrifices and great efforts, an emblematic restaurant where tamales, empanadas and coffee Talega made the must visit that, according to some locals, there were occasions when they came to register more than 450 diners a day, which of course made the popularity of Doña Pame grow.
Villa del Carmen is a farm built in the year 1800, in the middle of palm groves, fruit trees, fresh water stacks, organic vegetable fields and fertile soil. The villa was for many years the home of the Trasviña Fiol family, a family of farmers and ranchers well known in the state and that for decades were dedicated to livestock.
La Villa del Carmen, houses the family home with its own architecture of this generous rural area and visitors can admire the main living room of this beautiful house, which will allow them observe the original furniture from the time when the Trasviña family still lived there and that even enjoy.
Over the years, businesswoman Lucy Trasviña, the daughter of Doña Pame, has made Villa del Carmen, a beautiful country setting for one of the most visited restaurants by locals and tourists in the last 5 years, it is also the restaurant Doña Pame, the host of the successful Festival Gastronomy “Sabores de Baja,” which year after year receives in its orchard and its gardens all assistants in an environment of music, color, folklore and camaraderie, where the main guest It is the authentic South Californian gastronomy.
Doña Pame as Carmelita is affectionately called, has been the subject of several tributes and recognizesitions in honor of her great career in the hospitality and gastronomy industry in the state of Baja California Sur. Perhaps in addition to growing a family next to her husband and her 3 children, another of her great achievements was having consolidated a family business by herself, at a time where it was difficult to distinguish the work of a young empowered woman, in a environment reserved for barons in this rural area of the Municipality of Los Cabos over the years 60´s.
