There was severe damage in Los Cabos that was left as the result of Tropical Storm Lidia passing through the aea from August 30 and August 31, 2017.  As of the morning of September 1, 2017, the Civil Protection authorities have confirmed four people dead, including a child under 2 years of age. They also reported that there are about 3,000 people left homeless in Los Cabos, 22 shelters and a thousand in La Paz.

Early this morning a building collapsed in the Chula Vista housing development in Cabo San Lucas, and another similar collapse in the Puerto Nuevo housing development in San Jose del Cabo, which previously had already been evacuated.

In the zone known as Vado Santa Rosa of San Jose del Cabo is collapsed by the road by the avenue of water. However there is already heavy machinery working on the site. About 50 percent of the population is without electricity.

All night on Thursday, August 31st, Civil Protection brigades, Army, Mexican Navy, Pentathlon volunteers, Firefighters, Red Cross and lifeguards of private emergency services were helping the officers of the municipal, state and local security corporations. Federal Police were supporting the tasks of evacuation and emergency care at the last moment, especially in areas of invasion.
