Quivira Los Cabos Donates New Ecological Lighting at Don Koll Sports Complex
Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, México
On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, Taber Anderson, Director of Quivira Los Cabos, announced at a public press conference that his development company would be donating a brand spanking new ecological lighting system that would brighten the evening skies of the Don Koll Sports Complex. “This initiative arises because the previous lighting illuminated a lot outside the stadium was causing substantial visual pollution in all the neighboring communities.” said Anderson, “As good neighbors, we are pleased to cooperate and donate the new lighting that will not only help the people of Los Cabos have a sports facility with adequate lighting, but also contribute a sustainable method of reducing the energy consumption considerably.”
The installation of this new ecological lighting system involved the replacement of 60 metal additive luminaries for 28 High Efficiency LED sources of light, that will illuminate the facilities of Don Koll Stadium, as well as the red-colored tartan track and the nearby American-style football field; which will receive 18 LED high efficiency lighting that will replace the 24 metallic system already in place.
“It is estimated there will be a reduction of more than 50% in total energy consumption thanks to the installation of this ecological LED lighting, generating a saving of almost one million pesos per year to the city council of Los Cabos,” said José Ernesto Coppel, Director of Real Estate Operations of Quivira Los Cabos.
The new lighting system has the most modern lighting technology that is similar to the type used in large stadiums and sports arenas of the world, such as the San Diego Padres Petco Park of Major League Baseball and the NFL’s Dallas Cowboy’s ATT Stadium, as well as the Orlando Magic’s Amway Center in the United States, Wimbledon in the United Kingdom and the Mexican Baseball League’s Sultans of Monterrey Stadium in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. To further emphasize the point, it will be the same lighting once used to illuminate the Statue of Liberty in New York. “We are a municipality that grows like no other in the country, and that municipality, needs its businessmen, and everyone from the development sector to help boost our economy, which gives life, to places like Cabo worldwide “, commented the Los Cabos Mayor Armida Castro.
