The Navy Secretariat of Mexico Provides Support to the Populations Affected.

The Navy Secretariat of Mexico informs that, in coordination with the authorities of the three levels of government, it provides support to the populations affected by the intense rains caused by the Tropical Storm “Lidia” in the State of Baja California South.

In response to this situation, the “Marine Plan” was implemented in the relief phase of the entities of La Paz and Los Cabos in Baja California Sur, in order to safeguard human life, property, productive plant, preserve public services and environment.

In actions carried out by personnel belonging to the Second Naval Zone, four vehicles were transported by the municipality of La Paz, assisting fourteen persons between adults and children affected by this natural phenomenon in the “Los Olivos” colony. Naval personnel at the “José Ma. Garma González” Secondary School, in the “Centenario” Colony, providing temporary shelter to thirty-one persons between adults and children. Tactical deployment of immediate reaction teams was also carried out locality of “Los Barriles”.

In Cabo San Lucas, naval personnel provide support to the population, displacing six hundred and thirty-six civilians in high-risk areas and moving to the three available shelters, of which three hundred and twenty-four people hosted at the “Héroes de 1847” Primary School, one hundred and ninety-two people at the “Carmen Fisher” Telesecondary School and one hundred and twenty people in an improvised shelter at the G-20 Operations Base where food was distributed, which were provided by the Municipality.

Faced with this problem, random patrols are carried out in the shops, tourist corridors and commercial shops of the different municipalities in order to avoid looting in them.

It is worth mentioning that six hundred and ninety are deployed and it contains elements, eighty-seven vehicles, two aircraft, a kitchenette and thirty vessels of this Institution to carry out relief work for the civilian population in the affected areas in this entity.

It is recommended that the general population attend to the preventive measures indicated by the Ministry of the Navy – Mexican Navy, Civil Protection and local authorities; this Institution also makes available the telephone numbers 01 800 627 46 21 extension 1000, (55) 56 77 71 19 and (612) 12-534-95, of the Second Naval Zone, through which the calls will be handled of assistance for those who need it.

With these actions, the Secretariat of Navy-Navy of Mexico reiterates its commitment to support citizens in situations that endanger their lives.
