Los Cabos is Awarded in Crisis Managment

Los Cabos is awarded in “crisis management” for its handling of the pandemic.

The Latin American SABRE Awards 2021 granted recognition to Los Cabos for adapting the traveling experience to the new necessities after the Covid-19 pandemic, and for its multiple certifications in safety protocols.

This award recognizes the work and effort that has taken part in Los Cabos with the collaboration of the private companies, local authorities, and the general public.

“It’s an indicator that we are on the right path and we should keep focused, always keeping in mind the well being of our visitors as well as the locals” said Rodrigo Espona, Director of the Fideicomiso de Turismo of Los Cabos, he also shared that among the actions taken into account were closing Los Cabos for two whole months, back in March 2020, to focus on the creation and implementation of hygiene and health protocols to allow for a safe environment for visitors.

Other actions were the acquirement of certifications like; Safe Travel from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC),  Cristal from Intertek, and Punto Limpio from the Mexican Secretary of Tourism. As well as the creation of a Health Committee besides a Five steps plan to reopen with the help of multiple advertising campaigns and public relationships.

thanks to this work plan this June 2021 was possible for Los Cabos to have international assistance that reached pre-pandemic levels, receiving  65,500 visitors more than in June 2019. In this new normality, his tourist destiny is fully recovered, showing its best levels of vacancies and tourist flow.

The strategies for tourist reactivation continue strengthening, adapting as the crisis does. Los Cabos shows a vaccination rate of 80% in the population older than 18 years old (having at least one shot). Just 2 of every 10,000 tests taken by tourists before leaving turn out positive. Is constant work that keeps showing a positive impact on the recuperation of tourism.
