JC went on to say “You will never be the fisherman I am, little man”. (I don’t know why he keeps calling me that?). I am the Admiral and there is no one like me in Cabo. JC, shouted: “Chris knows I am a genius Marlin fisherman”ask him?
Then he said: “Get out of my office and go do that so called fishing report you write for me”. So I left!!! One of these days JC!!
JC,s LEGEND and LIES will continue next week!!!
Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.
WEATHER: Well, today was cloudy and overcast and a couple drops of rain, but most of the week has been really nice weather with most everyday sunny and warm and calm winds. Overcast yesterday, but today back to normal with sunshine and highs in the mid 80,s and lows in the low 60,s. Really great spring break weather and it is so typical of Cabo and that is something you cant take away of this destination, the great weather.
WATER: The water has been lingering in and around the 71 to 74 degree mark and has been there for quite some time. We did start to see that greenish water in some areas and it is never good for fishing when it shows up. Water is cooling north of us and we should start to see cooler water in our are soon as it is that time of year.
This link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja.

BILLFISH: The Marlin have been hanging at the Light House and we have been catching decent numbers by drifting live Makerel and pitching bait. It’s so up and down its really hard to say how it will be this upcoming week, but we are hopeful as we have great weather. From the Light House to Ranch Migrino has been good for Marlin and we are using live bait and lure about 2 miles off the beach. What is good about this is we don’t have to run far to get into the Striped Marlin if they’re hitting. This week whatever we are catching whether it is Marlin, Wahoo or Dorado we are really working for them, well so what, we live and work in a great area and that’s fishing anyway.
DORADO: The water is still around 72 to 74 degrees so we are thinking it has to cool down a bit more for the Dorados to get back to normal. Pretty slow Dorado fishing and it is really spotty everywhere with nothing schooling up. The day we did run on our own Bob Marlin up the coast 35 miles by Cerritos area, we did catch 7 Dorado that day and 2 Wahoo. One of our buddies did run down to Gordo Banks but not much luck he only caught one little Dorado.
SWORDFISH: Hasn’t heard of any caught this week.
WAHOO: Its been pretty good Wahoo fishing all this week as we have landed quite a few nice fish and we are really happy about that. I think we are lucky this time of year to be catching so many and we are using live bait underneath the Dorado on the bait balls. Anyway, its working good so we are not changing it!!
TUNA: None!!! I haven’t heard of a lot of of Tuna being landed this past week. If you do run into them, I think you will have to run offshore about 25 to 35 miles to maybe run into them if you can find a school of Porpoise.
INSHORE: A few boats jigging iron around the Pedregal rocks and landing some Amber Jacks and I think the Yellowtail will start to get better in the next few days. The Sierra fishing is getting better close to shore from Pump House to Margaita rocks and the Panags have been killing the Sierra in front of the Solmar to the Pump House using hootchies, striped bait and rapalas. There has been some Red Snappers caught on live bait in the rocks on the Pacific side.
