What Happens in Cabo.. Stays in Cabo!
Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, México.
When it comes down to a vacation party central nightlife destination, Los Cabos, ranks right up there with the Las Vegas strip, Miami, Florida dance clubs, New Orleans, Louisiana French Quarter, and San Diego’s Gaslamp District. While not as old as its American nightlife counterparts, Cabo’s after hours festive scene has garnered world-wide fame as a place to party year round, since word of the young city’s nightlife began to spread among U.S., Canadian and European visitors during the late 1970’s.
In the late 1960’s, California surfers started making Los Cabos getaway voyages to surf and party like it was 1999, and were the first to create the world-famous term, ”What happens in Cabo, stays in Cabo,” which was later stolen, used and has been associated in the modern era with Las Vegas.
After city planners, engineers and architects transformed the small fishing village into a tourist destination in 1974, Cabo’s party reputation started taking shape in 1989 with the construction and opening of the now world famous, three story nightclub, El Squid Roe.
Built around the same time and open in April 1990, Cabo Wabo Cantina survived its early financial failures, which caused rock star music founder and former owner, Sammy Hagar to buy out his investment partner music band mates, place the business under new management and then see it become one of the most popular bars in the universe, as the Los Cabos town quickly grew into a major vacation resort during the mid-1990’s. Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina put Cabo on the universal party scene map, and the fame and party fandom has simply grown and grown into an epic legendary degree.
In terms of the Cabo party nightlife sentiment, nothing rings more true than the The Cabo Wabo promotional aphorism of “Where Land Ends and the Party Begins.”
Other nightclubs joined the Cabo party strip action and soon opened in and around the downtown Squid Roe location. Visitors can now walk one block in any direction of Squid Roe and enjoy the music and party frenzy at such places like Mandala, Rockstone Tavern, Cabo Blue, Jungle Bar, Giggling Marlin, La Vaquita, Crush, Senor Frogs, Baja Brewery, Esteban’s, Arre Mango and Nowhere Bar. Other happening hot spots on the Marina, include Agua Salada, Captain Tony’s, and Baja Cantina.
