Daikoku Japanese Restaurant – Are you really in Cabo?  When you enter Daikoku, you will think you have been transported back to Japan.  You cross over a small bridge and your magically cast into a Japanese Tea Garden setting.  The first thing you notice is the beauty of your surroundings.  Two tables where they actually have water running through the tops of the tables and then two small waterfalls that cascade into a Koi Pond.  Behind that is a water wheel that adds to the ambiance that you are next to a small stream in the forest.  For those of you that enjoy food from the Teppanyaki Grill, they have two of those to choose from in the outside garden area.  As you walk up a small flight of stairs and enter the restaurant, you stop, step back and ask yourself, where is the floor?  Surprise, the floor your standing on is made of thick glass with a Zen garden below.  It’s fun to watch people navigate their way to their table for the first time.  The inside is made more beautiful by the fact that they have used teak wood to construct the walls, very impressive.

You usually go to a restaurant for the food, but when someone like Daikoku throws in a spiritual experience along with the food and also has a very warm and hospitable staff, you know your going to have a pleasant experience.  Another thing is this and it is important to a lot of people, Daikoku has air conditioning.

There are many sushi restaurants in Cabo, but Daikoku is one of a kind.  A lot of restaurants only serve sushi rolls, but Daikoku offers a vast array of items to choose from.  To my knowledge, they are the only restaurant in Cabo that offers the Emperor of the ocean, Blue Fin Tuna.  The best cuts are from the belly and from a 400 pound tuna, you may only get a couple of kilos, but if you love tuna, you must give this a try and you will not be disappointed.  If your a meat lover, try the fillet mignon cooked on the Teppanyaki grill, it’s served with assored vegies.  They also have chicken and shrimp and other exotic things to choose from.

If your into sake, they have their own special blend that is made for them.  I’ve lived in Cabo for the past 24 years and Daikoku has become one my favorite restaurants in Cabo, so much so that I got engaged there last year.  I always feel like an old friend when I enter the restaurant.  Cabo San Lucas is a very unique place that is warm and friendly and a safe place to visit, Daikoku adds to the beauty of this city.
