The Green Light
The main source of income of 90% of the population in Los Cabos relies on tourism. Serious measures have been taken to bring everything to the new normal as quickly and efficiently as possible. After months of effort, the Mexican Secretary of Health announced on September 17, 2021, that Los Cabos and Baja California Sur will be entering Green Alert Status on Monday, September 20, meaning that all nonessential activities will be open, but still be required to follow the proper security protocols to ensure that the Covid-19 cases continue going down.
According to the order emitted by the Government of Baja California Sur, everyone is required to use a face mask at all moments when interacting with people outside their homes and in public spaces excepting specific activities like eating, drinking, swimming, etc.
The first touristic destiny in México working with Intertek Cristal
A health and safety program called: “Los Cabos, a safer way to travel” was developed, and with it, strict protocols were implemented at the airport, transport services, hotels, restaurants, touristic activities, beaches, and all the local community. This system was made under the supervision of Intertek Cristal, the highest standard in security protocols for the tourist, travel, and hotel industries. This collaboration reinforces the progress of the health and security standards in Los Cabos. Trought the Protek Destination Assurance program, which includes POSI-Check helping the Prevention of Spreading Infections (POSI). Los Cabos is the first touristic destiny in México working with Intertek Cristal in the implementation of these protocols.
These protocols are in line with those enforced by the federal government of Mexico, Los Cabos has since its implementation required every local business to have the “Punto Limpio” certification, offered by the Mexico Government to keep everything strictly in line with the hygiene protocols. This effort has made Baja California Sur one of the states with the least covid incidents in México.
Los Cabos Obtained the seal of approval of the World Travel & Tourism Council in “Safe Travel”
Los Cabos Obtained the seal of approval of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) for their “Safe Travel” insignia, which certifies the adoption of the WTTC standardized protocols of health and hygiene in all the regions.

Los Cabos also obtained the Sharecare verification in sanitary security, becoming the first touristic destiny VERIFIED ™ in the world. This verification endorses that most of the hotels in Los Cabos continue updating their health protocols with more than 360 global standards validated for experts.
Quick Testing Facilities.
The region of Los Cabos has also implemented a program of quick testing for Covid-19 to facilitate travelers to comply with the requirements needed to return to their country of origin.
