Canaco Los Cabos Fishing Tournament

The first Canaco Fishing Tournament was held two years ago on December 9th and 10th in 2017. Making it the youngest fishing tournament of the 8 fishing competition events that have made Los Cabos the fishing tournament capitol of the world. This year’s 3rd Annual Canaco Tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, December 7th and 8th and is sponsored by Hyundai, Oxxo, Orsan Gasoline, Fisherman’s Restaurant and Wild Cabo, among others.
“According to information from each of the tournament coordinators, there are ten million dollars between the eight tournaments, which account for eight hundred and twenty teams in total that participate annually, with an average of six members per team. All of which represents a great economic boost for our destination, ” said Héctor Montaño Cota, manager of the Integral Port Administration (API) of Cabo San Lucas, Héctor Montaño Cota.
“The two Bisbees Tournaments (The Black & Blue, and Los Cabos Offshore) account for $7.5 million dollars in prizes,” added Montaño Cota.
The smallest, and youngest Canaco Tournament offers a little more than $24,000 dollars in prizes, which organizers seek improving, with continued and growing sponsor support. Entry fee for the Canaco Tournament is $3,5000 pesos per team, and limits anglers fisherman on board to four per boat. The one day tournament start time is 7:00 AM with all boats due back by the 4:00 PM deadline.
