Puerta Vieja Restaurant and Bar

Tourist Corridor, Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Puerta Vieja Restaurant and Bar features elegant Mexican cuisine, incredible ocean and arch views, fine Cuts of Sonora Beef, fresh seafood specialties, freshly baked breads, and capacity for Groups up to 200 persons.

Puerta Vieja, our old door (in this case 160 years old and from India), blends contemporary architecture –”high ceilings and an open design –”with warm colonial accents. Then there’s the stunning wide-open bay and Land’s End view, filling every southwest window of the two level space. The menu is international with a few nods to Asia: curry and Thai seasonings highlight several dishes. Start with the shrimp curry salad or the pear salad with proscuitto, gorgonzala, and arugula.

From the grill, there are steaks and New Zealand lamb. The Puerta Vieja special, three lamb chops, three jumbo shrimp and a lobster tail is a bargain at $23 U.S. The fish fillet is offered with chile ajillo, cilantro, or Mediterranean (balsamic vinegar, bell peppers, mint, and parsley) sauces. Steak and seafood combos, shrimp, and lobster vie with Thai chicken or chicken stuffed with shrimp. Mexican plates include Tampiqueña, a combo of marinated beef fillet and chicken enchilada in a mild chile sauce. Save room for the flan, key lime pie, or the sinful double chocolate cake. A well priced wine list, full bar and live music add to the appeal, along with a private dining room for 12 and an upper level bar terrace for parties of up to 150 people. Puerta Vieja Restaurant provides up to 200 people and a wide variety of menus prepared with the highest quality and reasonable prices, Puerta Vieja is open noon to 11 p.m. daily. Excerpt from Los Cabos Magazine, Issue 34, Fall 2013 – Puerta Vieja Restaurant, Cabo San Lucas
Its name means “old door” and indeed the gateway to Puerta Vieja is a 150-year-old portal that leads guests to an attractive restaurant known in equal measures for its international menu, charm, and affordable prices. For 16 years, owner Manuel Bobadilla and chef Roberto Rendon have refined and perfected a that appeals to both taste buds and wallets. Choose from daily musical entertainment in the salon (including a weekly Cuban-themed party), the view of Land’s End from the sunset terrace, or the intimate setting of the wine cellar, which houses a wine selection worthy of the most discriminating oenophile; all make for an enchanting experience. Begin your dinner with the grilled asparagus with goat cheese or clam chowder served in a bread bowl. The signature dish is a feast that includes New Zealand lamb chops, jumbo shrimp, and lobster tail. There are many tempting options ranging from Neopolitan-style lasagna to New York steaks that it is difficult to choose only one. The portions are so generous, though, you’ll want to bring your appetite. Finish off the evening by ordering a Mexican coffee and watch the tableside fire show.
