(Yes, this sun-drenched spot got its taste of notoriety when one Texas lawmaker made his getaway in the middle of a winter storm.) “What we learned by looking at traveler behaviors in a year as unusual as 2020 is that travel will always be an integral part of lives,” Expedia Senior PR Manager Christie Hudson said. “Travelers responded to the uncertainty and restrictions by finding ways to safely explore closer to home.”

Cancun, Mexico

“Spring break forever” Cancun continues to rank No. 1 for Expedia as the most popular spring break destination. This city on the Yucatan Peninsula is known for its pristine beaches, swim-up bars and archeological sites like Chichen Itza.
