New Dishes, Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki, at Daikoku Japanese Restaurant.

OKONOMIYAKI (Japanese Pancake)

One of the new dishes at Daikoku Los Cabos is a Japanese pancake (sometimes compared to an omelette) with a variety of ingredients like cabbage, green onions and meat. Okonomiyaki is famous in Osaka and Hiroshima but these days it is available throughout Japan. Depending on the area the ingredients are a little different. Some contain seafood, others contain some noodles and some areas contains even cheese. It is served with a special sweet sauce, katsuobushi (fish shaving flakes), mayonnaise and beni shouga (pickled ginger).

In Japan some Okonomiyaki Restaurants are “grill it yourself” style. The server of the restaurant gives the customer a bowl of all the ingredients, the customer grills at the table with the hotplate.

At DAIKOKU we serve Okonomiyaki at the Teppanyaki table.

TAKOYAKI (Japanese Snack)

Takoyaki, the second of the two new dishes at Daikoku, is a Japanese snack made of wheat flour batter and cooked in ball-shaped hotplate. Normally filled with small bites of tako (octopus), tenkasu (tempura scraps), beni shouga (pickle ginger) and green onions. Takoyaki is serve with a special sweet sauce, katsuobushi (fish shaving flakes) and aonori (green laver).
