The authentic Mexican cuisine, Los Tres Gallos Restaurant (The Three Roosters), is located two blocks east of the main strip Lazaro Cardenas Boulevard, next to the corner at Leona Vicario Street and Calle 20 de Noviembre. The restaurant’s interior decor is an outdoor courtyard setting with many wonderful bright red wall and green tree lined colors. The open air kitchen allows for the delightful scent and aroma of freshly cooked food being prepared. The dinner-only establishment serves an excellent Guacamole and is known for its prompt and very friendly bilingual service. The skirt steak, chicken Mole’ enchiladas topped with cheese, sour cream and purple onions, carnitas, tortilla soup, and Chilean sea bass are all incredible dishes from which to choose.

Los Tres Gallos also offers a spicy and not so caliente variety of salsa. All dinner plates are accompanied by refried beans and Mexican rice. Their delicious Molcajete order consists of chorizo, steak, shrimp, melted cheese and sliced avocados. Aside from the memorable romantic vibe of this charming restaurant, their Tacos del Mar come with lobster, shrimp and scallops. Los Tres Gallos serves a solid representation of classic regional dishes from throughout the country of Mexico. The tender and full of flavor pork shank is always a tasty treat as is the  the mini gorditos appetizers (thick tortilla sandwiches filled with a choice of six or seven ingredients). Another flavorful appetizer is the empanaditas (mini empanadas) .

The margaritas at Tres Gallos are a delicious blend of real lime juice (not from a mix) and an excellent tequila. ”The Margarita was tastefully strong with tequila took it to another level,” said visiting central California school teacher Efrain Chavez during his spring break vacation. ”I highly recommend the tres leches for dessert, ” added Mr. Chavez. A live band drifts from table to table playing Mexican and American classic per request.
