Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, México.
The Los Cabos International Film Festival is pleased to announce that The Irishman, the long-awaited Martin Scorsese film, will open its 8th edition. The Latin American premiere of the film will be presented at the Cultural Pavilion in Cabo San Lucas on November 13, 2019. Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci star in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman; an epic saga about organized crime in the United States of America after World War II, as recounted by veteran Frank Sheeran, a scammer and hitman who worked with some of the most notorious figures of the twentieth century. Over several decades, the film tells one of the greatest unsolved mysteries: the disappearance of the legendary leader of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a magnificent insight into the inner workings, rivalries and connections of organized crime.
Scorsese’s new film, captured by the lens eye of Mexican cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto – recognizes the hidden links between organized crime and high US government political connections.
“We are proud to have the honor of offering the premier in Latin America of ”The Irishman”, the most recent film by one of the most powerful titans of American and world cinematography. We are happy to collaborate with Netflix and present this emblematic work on the screens of the Festival in Los Cabos, ” said Maru Garzón, Artistic Director of the Festival.
The Festival, which takes place from November 13 to the 17th, is a solid platform that presents risky, thoughtful and inspiring films from both emerging talents and well known filmmakers and also seeks to promote creative diversity and content through its Gabriel Figueroa Films Fund program. The audience of the 8th Annual Los Cabos International Film Festival will have the opportunity to enjoy and witness one of the most anticipated films of the year, before it premieres in cinemas in Mexico on November 15 and on Netflix, during its November 27 debut.
