Jw marriotts Cafe des Artistes – In case you haven’t heard and want to be in the know, the JW Marriott, which opened November, 2015, has an outstanding restaurant called Café des Artistes. It is elegant and understated and is the signature restaurant of French-born, award-winning chef Thierry Blouet.

This is his third such undertaking in Mexico, others being in and near Puerta Vallarta. All dishes are works of art. Signature dishes include pumpkin cream soup with prawns served from a fresh carved pumpkin. This with the fabulous breads made on site is enough for a meal, but don’t fill up; save room for more delights to follow. Every month or so, the chef is in residence and presents a special chef’s tasting menu to explore enticing food options. Great place to celebrate a special occasion. Periodically, the restaurant hosts a cocktail contest with various mixologists participating.

The recent winner was a Mescalita, made with mescal, “moonshine” cactus and pineapple juice…very smooth and very delicious! Try it, or whatever new concoction they come up with on their extensive and handsome printed cocktail menu while enjoying live piano music from a grand piano before partaking of an outstanding gourmet meal. More seasonal cocktails and contests to come, promises Ivan Tapia, Sommelier of the wine cava, and Andres Rosales, Manager.
