Hotels ready for 2018 hurricane season
Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, June 12, 2018 – Before the arrival of Hurricane Bud, the Hotel Association of Los Cabos advises that they have already started with their prevention and contingency protocols for the 2018 hurricane season.
Update: June 13, 2018, 10:13 am. Formerly a Category 4 hurricane, Bud is now weakening and will arrive in Baja California Sur on Thursday as a tropical storm or depression. Bud will produce bands of heavy rain, high surf, rip currents and some tropical storm-force winds.
These contingency protocols begin with updating of emergency directories and force, states of the hotels, official information by the Civil Protection authorities on issues of shelters and high-risk areas, as well as data on approaching and distancing of the phenomena. Like the test of the radio communication network that we have thanks to a local communications provider; noted Paloma Palacios, Executive President of the Hotel Association of Los Cabos.
Similarly, we have preliminary data that occupancy in the destination is around 60% on the weekend of June 15 to 17 with an approximate of 21,000 visitors at the destination. Of which we have 73% Americans, 3% Canadians, 11% Mexicans and 13% other nationalities or not reported. And nothing relevant in cancellation issues for the weather.
Our partner hotels have already informed us that they have begun their prevention protocols for days, taking the necessary precautions for the facilities, as well as the visitors they have at home.
In the same way, we want to take advantage of the space so that the community of Los Cabos can take its due precautions and always be attentive to the official indications given by the Civil Protection authorities, that those who have to evacuate do so following the indications, since it is for the prevention of them and their families.
The Hotel Association of Los Cabos will always be working on prevention issues and coordinating all efforts with the appropriate authorities to always have good results.
