Established to oversee the planning and development of port estates and services, the API offers a tender dock for 12 vessels simultaneously, tenders, mooring, fuel supply, provision, three private marinas and an area of more than 150 meters for embarking and disembarking passengers. While it remains autonomous in its administration, the API works with the governing bodies to ensure the highest level of efficiency and competitiveness for the port of Cabo San Lucas.

The port is nestled near the famous arch at Land”s End, a dramatic rock formation at the end of the peninsula where the Sea of Cortes and Pacific Ocean meet. From its humble beginnings as a sleepy fishing village, Cabo San Lucas has grown to become one of the most beloved beach destinations on the planet and is an international mecca for water sport enthusiasts, including divers, surfers, yachtsmen, and sports fishermen. In fact, Cabo San Lucas is famous for its world-class sport fishing and is commonly referred to as marlin capital of the world.

Cabo San Lucas serves as a romantic destination for newlyweds, an aquatic lover”s underwater paradise, a slice of heaven on earth for vacationers with a range of luxury resorts and spas and nightlife, and the top golf destination in Mexico.

As rich in history as it is in culture and natural beauty, Los Cabos dates back to the 15th century when it was a mooring paradise for pirates who hid in the caves of Los Cabos awaiting Spanish galleons. Today this zone is preferred by tourists who enjoy up to 350 days of sunshine per year and an average temperature of around 78°F (26°C).

Unsurprisingly, tourism is the mainstay of Cabo”s economy. The Mexican government embarked on a major tourism drive in the mid 1980s supported by large investments in touristic infrastructure and amenities. Today tourists to the area can enjoy an international airport, regional gastronomy, handicraft markets, guided tours, five-star hotels, resorts and spas, fully equipment hospitals and large-scale tourist developments.
