Los Cabos Magazine Dining Review When you’re up to your sombreros in tacos, there’s a place in Cabo San Lucas where genuine “pub” food can be found. Pub de La Chapu may not sound Irish, but as soon as you enter the cozy, dimly lit restaurant and bar, you’ll feel like you’re on the other side of the pond. The walls and ceilings are draped with signs, banners, neon logos, posters, and photos of all things Irish. Even though it was a hot Cabo afternoon, sitting next to the brick wall and fireplace was somehow cooling. The menu is full of old-time favorites, like hamburgers, fries, sandwiches, and Buffalo chicken wings, but you will also find some Mexican dishes if you like. The Bagette Pub sandwich is created with Serrano ham, pastrami, roast beef cheese and tomato ($8.50 US.) The Hamburger de la Chapu comes with cheese, bacon, Portobello mushroom, jamón, lettuce and tomato, and topped with grilled onions for $9.50 US. Who could ask for anything more? There are seven different salads and soups, ranging from $5.75 to $9.50 US. I had a cheeseburger that was just great! All the fixings and pub fries just the way I asked for them – a little crispier than everyone else seems to want them! It was a hot day so I ordered lemonade, and my waiter suggested a lemonade and club soda mix. I loved it! It was unfortunate that I had to drive, because the myriad beers available were very tempting. I would not be true to my Irish heritage if I did not mention that, while there are plenty of shamrocks inside, the Pub’s logo is a four-leaf clover instead of the three leaves of a true shamrock! Regardless, don’t let this upset you, because maybe the clover is purposely used there as just a good luck symbol - luck that you will have when you go there. Pub de La Chapu is located in Gali Plaza at the south end of the marina, near Cabo Dolphins. Open 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Sunday through Wednesday, and 9:00 am to 1:00 am Thursday through Saturday.
