Mango Deck Restaurant & Bar

Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, México

Mango Deck Restaurant, Bar and Beach Club, CaboAt this point, Mango Deck Restaurant, Bar & Beach Club is as synonymous with Cabo San Lucas as Land’s End or big-game sportfishing. Perhaps best known as a spring break mecca and Cabo San Lucas’s beach bar nonpareil, the popular image of Mango Deck is that it’s the sun-kissed epicenter of Médano Beach, the place where bikini- and board short-clad youths drink beer from ice buckets while enjoying (or participating in) risque contests, and burly, mustachioed men named Big Johnson and Armando, respectively, patrol the perimeter, pulling shot glasses from Pancho Villa-esque bandoliers, and tequila bottles from matching leather holsters.

That’s only part of the picture, however. The spring break season lasts about one month. For the rest of the year, Mango Deck Restaurant, Bar and Beach Club flourishes as one of the best restaurants on Médano Beach, serving superb seafood, grilled specialties, and Mexican and American comfort food favorites. Plus, the cantina also operates a beachside activities rental concession, offering affordable prices for wave runner or parasailing adventures on the Cabo San Lucas Bay. So, although the fun in the sun never really ends, Mango Deck is much more than simply a seaside party bar. It’s also the sort of place where you can eat early morning pancakes, swim, snorkel, lie on the sand, nap under an umbrella, or sip a tropical cocktail garnished with one, enjoy a romantic moonlit dinner, play Frisbee or eat barbecue, watch fireworks, or set off for an exploration of Land’s End and Lover’s Beach.

Morning may be the best time to visit Médano Beach. The bay begins to come to life —pangas, or skiffs, begin ferrying passengers from the Cabo San Lucas Marina to the beach, stand-up paddle boarders and kayakers cruise slowly by, and frigate birds arc and wheel above it all—but there are few people on the beach, so it’s the ideal time for an invigorating swim or a hearty breakfast. Mango Deck offers plenty of delicious options, including rich coffee and healthy fresh-squeezed juices and smoothies, and provides a scenic seaside vantage point as beach and bay fill with sun-seekers and seagoers. Each Sunday, Mango Deck offers an all-you-can-eat buffet with a fruit bar, chilaquiles, beans, French toast, vegetables, bacon, sausages, eggs to your liking, and more. Daily highlights include hangover curing chilaquiles or huevos rancheros, steak and eggs, and the filling Two, Two, Two combo with two eggs any way you like them, two strips of bacon, two breakfast sausages, fresh fruit, and a choice of two pancakes or two slices of French toast.

Mango Deck is a jewel with many facets. Best known for its premium Médano Beach location and anything-goes ambience—this is the party central come spring break, after all—Mango Deck has one of the area’s finest restaurants, as well as a sushi bar, an outdoor grill, and an on-site beach club that offers water-based activities and rentals that range from wave runners and stand-up paddle boards to banana boats and parasailing rides.
