Morning Glory: The Best Breakfast Restaurants in Cabo San Lucas
Whether you’re feeling groggy, foggy, hazy, lazy, or just plain hungover, nothing clears the head and refreshes the spirit quite like a hearty breakfast and strong coffee. Fortunately, Los Cabos restaurants offers both in abundance, with bills of fare largely centering on Mexican specialty dishes like chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, as well as American standards such as omelets and French toast. And since you’re on vacation (either temporary, or in the case of some local expats, permanent), no one will look at you askance if you pass up a refill of gourmet Oaxaca- or Chiapas-grown coffee for a bloody Maria, or pair your eggs Benedict with a sparkling mimosa.
Another benefit of being on vacation is that you can eat breakfast in Los Cabos at just about anytime before 3 p.m., as most local restaurants feature very relaxed standards when it comes to dishing up the “morning” meal. But eat it you must, as Yoda might say, because you’ll need the energy later for activities like fishing, diving, surfing, and FlyBoarding …or at the very least, to make it to the beach or spa.
With that in mind, here are a few of our favorite breakfast restaurants in Cabo San Lucas:
This locals’ favorite is one of Cabo’s premier downtown dining destinations, beloved for its affordability and high standards. The restaurant is located at the historic Hotel Mar de Cortez—one of the first hotels built in Cabo San Lucas—and it serves up popular breakfast fare like eggs Benedict, as well as a filling $4 U.S. American breakfast featuring three eggs any way you like them, two strips of bacon, toast, fresh fruit, potatoes and peppers, and beans. Owner John Venditti’s Canadian roots and Italian heritage are also on display, courtesy of delicious dishes like the Canadian-style chicken fried chicken, served with eggs and mushroom gravy, and an Italian omelet best enjoyed with a refreshing Bellini (a mix of sparkling wine and peach juice).

Hearty fare and freshly squeezed juices and smoothies headline the morning bill of fare at Mango Deck on Medano Beach.
Mango Deck may be best known as Cabo’s Spring Break headquarters, and the place where college students indulge in all manner of debauched behavior this time of year. But it also happens to be one of the best restaurants on Médano Beach, and its gorgeous beachfront location and Land’s End views provide the perfect setting for a morning repast. The Two, Two, Two (I like to call it the Noah’s Ark) is a perennially popular breakfast option, and includes two strips of bacon, two breakfast sausages, and a choice of two pancakes or two slices of French toast, with a side of fresh fruit. The freshly squeezed juices and smoothies are also top-notch, and, on Sundays, Mango Deck hosts an all-you-can-eat buffet with steak and eggs, and other filling favorites.
Don’t feel like choosing between American or Mexican breakfast items? Try Pan Di Bacco, an atmospheric Italian-style bakery, restaurant, and café that opened near the Cabo San Lucas Marina in early 2013. It’s located in the midst of the city’s nightlife district, so you can relive the previous night’s adventures while inhaling the intoxicating aroma of freshly baked bread, and sipping Italian-style espresso drinks made from gourmet coffee beans from Chiapas. The coffee drinks, smoothies, hot chocolate, and organic Chai and green teas are as good as you’ll find anywhere in Los Cabos, but you’ll also want to sample from the generous food menu, which in addition to artisanal breads includes exquisite quiches and frittatas.

Solomon’s Landing’s charms include scenic views of the Cabo San Lucas Marina, as well as the best waffles in town.
This restaurant is beloved by locals and tourists not only because of its scenic location on the Cabo San Lucas Marina but also for the enormous variety of menu options that offer something to please every palate. Morning meal aficionados should definitely sample the superb waffles, particularly the decadent house waffle topped with mixed berries compote, chocolate chips, real whipped cream, and sweet Canadian maple syrup. It’s the stuff from which heroes and heroines are made, and it pairs perfectly with a Bailey’s spiked café latte. For less lionhearted types, the pancakes and French toast are also excellent, as are local specialties like the huevos a la mexicana. Prefer something a bit lighter? How about healthy servings of yogurt and granola, topped off with one of Solomon’s selection of freshly squeezed juices? I recommend the invigorating combination of carrot and celery. You’ll feel ready to swim to the Arch and back.
Then again, you could just relax and wait for lunch roll around.
