Los Cabos Hotels Welcome Lovers with Romantic Valentine’s Day–Friendly Packages and Promotions
There is a wonderfully romantic line in the song As Time Goes By, performed by pianist Dooley Wilson in the classic Bogart-Bergman film Casablanca: “The world will always welcome lovers…”
Los Cabos has taken the spirit of this line to heart in the past two decades, augmenting the area’s natural beauty and spectacular Land’s End vistas with an abundance of pampering spas, candlelit wining and dining spots, and romantic seaside luxury resorts. Local lodgings, in particular, have fallen in love with lovers so thoroughly that romance itself has become a specialty.

On-site event planners are able to arrange everything from destination weddings to honeymoons and renewal of vows ceremonies—The Bahia Hotel & Beach Club recently upped the ante by arranging its first underwater marriage ceremony—and concierges can schedule horseback rides along a secluded beach, couples massages or Lover’s Beach picnics in a matter of minutes.
It should come as no surprise, then, that as Valentine’s Day approaches, several of the region’s top accommodations options are offering special romance-themed vacation packages. Here are a few of our favorites:
Since its opening in 2009, Capella Pedregal has annually been rated as one of Latin America’s finest resorts, and its on-site Auriga Spa has been ranked as the finest hotel spa in the world. The exclusive Pedregal property—How exclusive? Guests enter through the longest private tunnel in Mexico–knows how to set the stage for a romantic Valentine’s Day vacation getaway. Capella’s Romance Under the Stars package includes Champagne and canapés, breakfast at Don Manuel’s, The Art of Couples Massage at Auriga Spa, rose petal turndown service, and a magical dinner for two at El Farallón, a cliffside market-style seafood restaurant perched above crashing Pacific Ocean waves.
Prefer life on the beach? The Bahia Hotel and Beach Club offers easy access to Cabo San Lucas’s most popular stretch of golden sand, Médano Beach, as well as a budget-friendly romance enhancement. For a few dollars more, turndown service on your first night includes gourmet chocolates, massage oil, and candlelit accommodations.
Like Capella Pedregal, One& OnlyPalmilla is one of Los Cabos’ benchmark properties. The difference is that One&Only Palmilla has been offering sumptuous appointments and superior service for more than 50 years. The legendary Tourist Corridor hideaway’s Moments package includes a slew of Barry White–level amenities, including Champagne, dinner on the beach, a signature Unwind spa experience for two that lasts two and a half hours, private chauffeured explorations of Baja’s bounty, and rounds of golf at a course that has been ranked among the world’s 100 best.
At Esperanza, another top Tourist Corridor luxury resort, Romance Para Dos translates to tequila and artisanal chocolate tastings, romantic dinners for two at Cocina del Mar, hour-long couples spa treatments and complimentary use of the resort’s fitness facilities. Hacienda Encantada‘s Everlasting Romance, meanwhile, means four nights in a rose petal-strewn luxury suite, chocolate covered strawberries, a couples massage, and a shopping day at Luxury Avenue on the Cabo San Lucas Marina.
San José del Cabo’s Playa Hotelera, or Hotel Beach, is home to a number of the area’s best lodgings, including Cabo Azul, an opulent all-villa resort set steps from the Sea of Cortés. Five-night or more Romance packages at the chic and sunnily sophisticated Cabo Azul include a $100 credit toward a romantic dinner, a bottle of bubbly, two signature couples spa treatments, and half a dozen chocolate strawberries.
North of Cabo San Lucas, in the coastal pueblo mágico of Todos Santos, Guaycura Boutique Hotel & Spa is offering a two-night Guaycura Romance package that includes welcoming Champagne and strawberries, intimate spa treatments for two, a romantic, candlelit four-course dinner at the highly regarded Guaycura Restaurant, and nightly damiana tea service (damiana is an indigenous Baja herb noted for its aphrodisiacal qualities). Exploring the town’s many excellent art galleries is also recommended.
Champagne and chocolate strawberries may be readily available north of the border, but I’m betting tropical winter temperatures and adults-only Infinity pools are not. So make your honey happy, and take him or her away from snow and sleet and toward sunshine and seaside romance.
