Fish Report for the Week of April 25th thru May 1st 2014
It was a frustrating week of fishing. It started very good and ended fairly well, but in between it was a bit slow. The fishing action is very inconsistent but with a decent mix of fish though. Marlin and Dorado have been bending our rods and plenty of small game fish species available form Bonita, Sierra, Huge Rooster Fish, Skip Jack, Needle Fish, Trigger Fish and Jack Carvelle. With beautiful warm and sunny days and an average temperature of 91 F, clear skies and an average water temperature of 70 F. An excellent week with 45 fishing trips provided by Sushi Time Sport Fishing, we had a 90.90% effectiveness catching fish, with 160+ bonitos, sierra, trigger fish, needle fish and skip jacks, 20 good-sized rooster fish that ran +20 lbs, 26 Dorados in the +20 lbs category, 11 Stripped Marlin in the +120 lbs and +16 Mako Sharks caught this week, all on live caballito and lures. The highlight of this week, has to be the Dorado that went on the bite again and the Huge Rooster Fish. The Hot spot for this week was the old light House in the Pacific Side. Some pangas got limits or near limits some days of the week, nevertheless several boats did come back with nothing….. either because of simple bad luck, losing fish very near the boat or choosing to chase the fish that was biting one day, but did not bite the next day.
