Sushi Time Fish Report to 05 December
Sushi Time Fish Report for the Week of November 27th to December 5th, 2013
We had some really nice weather this Thanksgiving week with an average temperature of 77ºF, sunny but pleasantly cool. With the beginning of December comes the whale watching season which is officially here. This week we saw hundreds of dolphins feeding just outside the bay of Cabo San Lucas and at least ten humpback whales less than 50 yards from the boat.
The water is crystal clear this time of the year, and had a very good week in terms of boat charters, with about 33 fishing trips provided this week by Sushi Time Sport Fishing, we had a 90.90% effectiveness catching fish, great action on a couple of species, being the billfish the highlight of the week with a couple of big sailfish but mainly 110 lbs to 140 lbs Striped Marlin, some bottom fished at the Old Light House using caballito and fresh ballyhoo provided by our favorite bait-guys Denisse. Others caught trolling live caballito and orange/green lures. As usual most billfish are getting released, but a few big ones did end up at Malcom’s table at the Tailz Up Smokehouse, to be smoked and professionally packed for their journey to the USA, like Steve’s 140 lbs stripper caught with Captain Pedro @ La Pecas.
Dorado continues to play along with fewer specimens caught this week compared to last, in the range of 25 lbs to 30 lbs, still providing great fights and lots of fun for our Anglers. They do seem a bit more scattered though. Favorite area for fishing Dorado was on the Pacific Side, biting mainly on Green/Yellow/ Pink hoochies.
Other species caught this week where a few Spanish Mackerel and Skipjacks.
Predictions for next week show that the temperatures will remain average at hi 80ºs, so hopefully our season will continue with solid fishing!
