Cabo Comedy Fest Kicks Off at the Hard Rock Cafe
Opening night of the Cabo Comedy Festival was bookended by parties: a kick-off party at Baja Brewing Company‘s picturesque rooftop location at Cabo Villas, and an after-party at Knotty Social Club. Between cocktails, conversation, and late-night merrymaking, guests at the first annual festival, billed as “Where the Land Ends and the Laughs Begin,” were treated to two great shows at the Hard Rock Cafe.
The laughs started with “The Road Monsters Show” at 9 p.m., hosted by Jim Krenn, and featuring stand-up performances by John Evans, Dana Eagle, Don McMillan, and Greg Hahn. Comedian Mark Eddie closed the kick-off show with a spirited fusion of comedy and rock and roll, including a memorable impersonation of soul legend Al Green singing the alphabet. The late show, “The Headliners,” went off at 11 p.m., with standout sets from Collin Moulton, Frank Nicotero, Lizz Winstead, Nick Rutherford, Johnny Sanchez, and Richard Villa. Both shows drew standing-room only crowds.
In addition to the Hard Rock, two other venues will host performances during the festival: Desperado’s and Pink Kitty. Shows are scheduled tonight at both Hard Rock Café and Desperado’s, and a Spanish only show will be featured tomorrow night at Pink Kitty.
