The aim of our educational model at Colegio Mission, English Language School, is to bring about an integrated individual who is capable of dealing with life as a whole.
At Colegio Mission, we believe that education should help shape a new set of values. It should not reinforce the conformity and competition that exists in society but rather it should help in the individual’s transformation so that freedom, creativity, and peace are more deeply respected and experienced in one’s daily life.
It is our intention to offer humanity the benefits of these wonderfully complete human beings who are growing and developing in this school. We want to share the fruits of their education with a deep joy of living in awe with the great and wonderful mystery of Life with an open mind and heart and a clear sense of intention in each of their lives as well.
We provide an alternative approach to education that will help us restore sanity to our lives and our culture. This approach could help us begin to bring a deeper meaning, joy, and purpose to our lives. Can we really afford not to explore such an alternative? Cooperative Learning
This method consists in taking the learning process to reduced groups of four students using different structures that develop and favor the multiple intelligences (logical-mathematical, verbal-linguistic, visual-spacial, musical-rhythmical, bodily-kinesthetic, naturalist, intra-personal and interpersonal). By using different structures in teaching, we reach all our students and have the repetition and understanding necessary for the human brain to store new concepts in the long term memory. At the same time, we set in motion the learning and practice of social abilities such as listening, patience in waiting for a turn to participate, orally express a train of thought, etc…
In today’s world, competition has been tried over and over and it doesn’t work. It is time to work cooperatively; aware of one’s abilities and strengths as well as one’s weak spots where the help of others is necessary in order to carry a project to its fruition in an effective manner.
