Flat Belly Recipes

changing-habitsRecipes for a Flat Belly

If you want to maintain or achieve a flatter stomach, you will have to kill those starchy carbs. Keeping off the carbs, especially sugars and starches, is the best way to get your belly down to size. Most people find the low carbohydrate lifestyle very hard to maintain. It can lead to overwhelming cravings for sweet stuff and a tendency toward binge eating. Unfortunately, the taste for sweet is genetically programmed into us. You can lose the taste for fats, (after years of dieting I can`t stand the taste of anything deep fried or greasy) but not for sweets.

These are some of my low carbohydrate tricks that I have learned to fend off cravings for sweets:

1. The Protein Pancake- This makes my low carb life worth living!

1 to 1.5 tbsp oat bran, (not oatmeal!).
1 egg
1.5 tbsp of crumbled, low fat panela or queso fresco cheese. These are found in many cheese sections but you can substitute low fat ricotta if you cant find it.
1-2 packets of Stevia or Truvia
1 tsp of cinnamon
Optional addition: 1 tbsp Trader Joe`s Golden Toasted Flax Seeds

Cook in a nonstick pan till light brown on both sides

I eat this with a little bit of low sugar yogurt and an egg for breakfast every day. You could even eat another one for lunch but leave out the stevia and cinnamon. Use it like bread for some low fat ham or tuna fish. Super low carb, less than a half slice of bread.

2. The Isagenix Choclate Malted- Stops me from snacking during trouble times (I am bad for snacking at night in front of the TV….)

Isagenix protein powders are made with un-denatured whey and I find they help me build muscle better than other protein powders. They also taste great. I cut the water back to half the recommended amount and add some ice with Stevia powder. It makes a really thick shake, like an old-fashioned choclate malted. I replace lunch or dinner with this high-protein shake and it really kills the urge to eat anything else. Isagenix is a network marketing company so you will need to email me for info on how to get it: robynlittlewood@yahoo.com

3. Atkins Choclate Meal Replacement Bars-

My favorite is the Caramel Choclate Roll with peanuts, it tastes like an O`Henry bar. They have a bunch of different flavors, and a lot of fiber in them. Watch out though, you can mow thru a whole box pretty easily and they contain a lot of fat.

4. Sugar Free Jello

I like to have this with a dollop of whipped cream for a low carb treat. Have a cup of spiced tea with it to really fill yourself up after a light dinner.
