Will Lasers Replace Plastic Surgery in the Near Future?
The Los Cabos area is starting to attract tourists who want to go home looking younger than when they arrived. “Medical Tourism” is a fast-growing segment of the tourism market and the industry’s growth is predicted to increase rapidly as the average age of the North American tourist rises.
But why would someone want to come to Los Cabos for cosmetic procedures when they can find them nearer to their own homes? The first and most obvious answer is the cost of cosmetic procedures in Mexico is often less than half of the prices found in Canada, the USA or Europe.
People from the US and Canada have been coming the Los Cabos area for quality dentistry work for many years and often save more than 50% of what they would pay back home. In a similar fashion, hopping the border from Southern California to Tijuana for plastic surgery has become a popular way to save 50% or more on facelifts, nose jobs, breast implants and many other cosmetic procedures.
Los Cabos is now becoming popular for less risky procedures such as FX lasers, Botox and fillers like Radiesse and Juvederm. Tourists can enjoy the benefits of looking younger without the risks associated with general anesthesia, extreme physical discomfort and lengthy recovery times associated with traditional plastic surgeries.
Non-ablative lasers, such as the FX C02, are used for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing pore size and the resurfacing and tightening of loose facial skin and drooping eyelids. Other specialized types of lasers are designed to restore the skins youthful glow, remove age spots, rosacea, acne scars and even spider veins.
The effects of these lasers can be quite spectacular as shown in the following before and after photos of a C02 laser procedure:
