TRX Innovation Makes Fitness Fun
Although many people know how important it is to their health and well-being to keep their bodies strong, going to the gym to lift weights can become a bore. Not only is it boring to do the same thing over and over again, it is not an effective way to achieve ongoing gains in muscle mass or continued weight loss.
Once muscles have learned how to do something, (ie: bench press 100 pounds), they no longer respond by growing to meet the challenge. Traditionally this means that you have to bench press 120 pounds the next time you lift to get continued results in muscle development. The problem for many of us, particularly the over 45 crowd, is that we can only keep adding weight up to a certain point. Also, doing the same exercises over and over again is tedious and boring. The outcome is that we reach a certain point in our physical development and then we plateau. Worse, most of us start to decline in our strength and fitness levels as we age, even if we are regular exercisers.
The challenge to keep gym workouts interesting has lead to plenty of fads and gadgets being marketed on infomercials that have little or no useful purpose in helping you reach your fitness goals. Once in a long while, something comes along that is really helpful. The TRX suspension trainer is one of those useful innovations that can fundamentally change both your body and the way you experience weight-bearing exercise.
Suspension training was born in the Navy SEALS with a fellow named Randy Hetrick, founder of Fitness Anywhere. Hetrick and his SEAL team mates needed a way to stay in top shape when they found themselves in areas where gym access was impossible. The TRX started out as a few lengths of parachute webbing hand-stitched together with rubber boat repair tools. In the weeks following, Hetrick and his buddies developed a large array of bodyweight exercises designed specifically for the suspension apparatus. These men laid the foundation for an entirely new approach to “functional” exercise and “core” development.
Core development and functional training have been the catch phrases of the fitness industry for several years now. A person with a strong core, in other words, a strong lower back and abdominal muscles, is less likely to hurt themselves lifting a heavy box from the shelf to the floor or any other daily task involving strength and flexibility. Functionality refers to the ability to perform the daily tasks of life without injury.
The suspension training method is functional and “All Core, All the Time”, as stated by the company training manuals from Fitness Anywhere. With proper instruction in it`s use, fitness enthusiasts will find the TRX a versatile and interesting change to their normal weight lifting and cardio routines. The suspension trainer is suitable for beginning exercisers as well and even those with sport injuries.
