Fish Report for the Week of May 2nd thru May 8th 2014
Frustrating week of fishing, saw literally hundreds of Marlin out there but the availability of live bait, just kills the bite at our lines. The fishing action remains very inconsistent although with a decent mix of fish. Great week catching Marlin and Dorado which have kept us busy every other day and plenty of small game fish species available form Bonita, Rooster, Skip Jack, Needle Fish, Sea Bass, and Jack Carvelle. With beautiful warm and sunny days and an average temperature of 88 F, clear skies and an average water temperature of 72 F. An extraordinary week with 59 fishing trips provided by Sushi Time Sport Fishing, we had a 84.74% effectiveness catching fish, with 180+ bonitas, needle fish and skip jacks, a good size 46 lbs Pig Sea Bass, 11 good-sized rooster fish ranging from 15 to 25 lbs, 30 Dorados in the +25 lbs category, 1 Sail Fish and 16 Stripped Marlin in the +120 lbs, caught this week on live caballito, lures and Hoochies. The highlight of this week definitely has to be the Bill fish that are everywhere, unfortunately most of them would not eat our baits. The Hot spot for this week was from Solmar to the old Light House in the Pacific Side. Pangas getting near limits some days of the week, nevertheless once again several boats did come back with nothing…..either because of simple bad luck or choosing to chase the Marlin on the day they did not want to bite.
