Los Cabos hosts G20 Summit next week
There’s no missing the preparations. Those who live and are visiting the Los Cabos region have seen the setup and increased security efforts for more than a week. Mexico is preparing to host the G20 Leaders’ Summit next week, from June 18 to June 19. The G20—which President Felipe Calderón described as the most important leaders’ meeting to have been held in the country—is the premier forum for international cooperation on financial and economical issues and brings together the leaders of 19 countries plus the European Union.
In the next few days, political leaders from around the world will descend on Los Cabos with the objectives of coordinating policies to achieve global economic stability and sustainable growth, creating international financial architecture, and promoting regulations that may help avoid future financial crises.
On June 12, the president issued a statement and noted Mexico’s increased presence—and importance—on the international stage. The leaders of the United States, China, Japan, Germany, France, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, Canada, India, Spain, Australia, Korea, Indonesia, Turkey, Argentina, South Africa, Colombia, Chile, Ethiopia, Benin, and Cambodia will attend. And for two days, the world’s eyes will be on our slice of paradise.
