8th Annual Sabor a Cabo Showcases More Top Chefs, Major Marketing Campaign

The Los Cabos area’s tastiest event, Sabor a Cabo (or Flavors of Cabo), returns to the Grupo Questro–managed Club Campestre Golf Course in San José del Cabo on December 1, from 5 to 11 p.m. This will be the eighth iteration of the popular culinary fête—staged annually by the local restaurant association, CANIRAC Los Cabos—and it promises to be the biggest and best yet, courtesy of a concerted advertising campaign by the Los Cabos Tourism Board and the presence of Michelin-star-awarded guest chefs, who will prepare food for select VIP tables.

8th Annual Sabor a Cabo

Los Cabos’ premier culinary showcase, Sabor a Cabo, will be held December 1 at Club Campestre Golf Course.

Since its inception, Sabor a Cabo has been one of the area’s signature events, drawing as many as 5,000 people annually for dining and dancing under the stars. Traditionally, Sabor a Cabo has been a showcase for Los Cabos’ finest chefs, as well as top producers from Mexico’s major wine producing areas, most notably wineries in Baja’s own Valle de Guadalupe.

The recipe for this year’s event will be largely the same, although there are some significant upgrades. Guests at VIP tables will enjoy offerings from three world-class guest chefs (yet to be announced), and live entertainment will be provided by renowned Las Vegas–based DJ Roman Rosati, who locals may know from his past association with the Nikki Beach brand.

“Sabor a Cabo offers guests, visitors and residents alike an opportunity to experience the very best in gastronomy and wine offered anywhere in all of Mexico,” said Carmen Carbajal, current President of Canirac Los Cabos. “All of the guests typically offer a high purchasing power, are well-versed and well-traveled, worldwide. They truly enjoy Sabor a Cabo due to their great appreciation for great food and wine.”

Live entertainment at the eighth annual Sabor a Cabo will be provided by Las Vegas–based DJ Roman Rosati.

Although Sabor a Cabo has always drawn diverse crowds made up of Los Cabos locals, regular and seasonal visitors, and destination event travelers from the United States, Canada, and mainland Mexico, this marks the first year the culinary showcase has been supported by a marketing campaign designed to attract visitors from major U.S. cities.

FITURCA (the Los Cabos Tourism Board), in concert with HCP Publishing (a division of the Miami Herald), is advertising in more than 20 newspapers throughout the United States, and is specifically targeting major metropolitan areas that offer direct flights to Los Cabos.

“The international advertising campaign for Sabor a Cabo is the first of its kind for any destination in Mexico, at least for an event focused on gastronomy and wine,” said Eduardo Segura, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.

Tickets for the  event are $100 U.S. (or $1250 pesos) per person.
