With half a century in the restaurant business and three decades of entertaining the international crowd, the Rebolledo Castelan family brings its fun expertise to Cabo San Lucas. Pericos in the Lighthouse, a sister venture of the famous Pericos Cancun, has a concept of Forever Fiesta all its own.
This marina-front restaurant-bar’s delightfully ill-behaved style allows you to experience Mexico like never before. Expect traditional Mexican cuisine adapted slightly to a tourist’s sensitive stomach, original house cocktails and safe family fun.
And if thinking about a true Mexican Fiesta only invokes images of frosty Margaritas—think again. For the spunky wait staff it’s no joke to keep you entertained, and they’ll do whatever it takes to put you in the mood. The party at Pericos is a grand improvisation. Depending on the crowd, the mood, and the time, the fun takes on different forms. You might find yourself limbo dancing under an old rifle or having a tequila shot straight from the bottle. Performing nightly the Marimba Orchestra represents the state of Veracruz with cheerful sounds and typical clothing. The chief constituent at Pericos however, for Owner Marco Espinoza Castelan and his staff, is the family. There’s always special fun and food for the little ones with games, tricks, and all-favorites kid’s menu.
Pericos In The Light House scores lots of bonus points for its decor. Utterly original, with all-Mexican themes, this hangout is filled with curious objects collected during years of travels, and custom-made figures of calaveras (humorous representations of the death, typical in Mexican culture.) The Pancho Villa corner makes history come alive and if you’re up for a climb, breathtaking views of Cabo San Lucas await you at the top of the lighthouse--Pericos’ proud location.
An essential element of every true Mexican Fiesta is of course the aqua vitae. Whether it’s served balancing on the top of your waiter’s head, or poured directly into your mouth from a three-meter ladder and sparked with flames, the cocktails at Pericos are spectacular. In addition to your basic beer, wine, and Margarita selections try two of the most popular ones. Pancho Villa, a house special, has a list of ingredients longer than your Christmas to-do list, and having La Cucaracha (the cockroach) is an experience in itself.
