Los Corsarios Steak House & Sports Bar
Los Cabos Guide - Restaurant and Dining Review - August 4, 2006 - by Sandra Berry
Hoist yerself down to the Golden Zone on the Cabo San Lucas marina me hearties and swagger into Los Corsarios (the pirates). This steak house and sports bar opened its doors in November 2005 and is better’n bein’ in Davy Jones’ locker, matey! Arrr! Have they got the booty! Blackbeard hisself would drool o’er the cozy bar with its barrel-shaped rattan chairs, loveseats, Jolly Roger flag, cutlasses, and old chests undootebly filled with pieces of eight. Los Cabos was shaped by pirates, so haul some keel and enjoy a little bit o’ history while drinkin’ a bit o’ grog, and satisfyin’ your black-hearted desires.
The ceiling in the large planked bar area has a hand-painted map of the area frequented by pirates of yore, with hanging chandeliers dripping with candle wax, carved figureheads, and skeleton heads left by some thieving scoundrels. Ye will know yer in the right place by the décor. Thar’s a ship’s wheel on the wall, and blown glass fixtures. Beware the saucy buxom beauty called “Carmen.” She’s all skin and bones and Cap’n will put the black spot on ye or have ye walk the plank if you dare dance with that wench. The Chef’s Specialty of fillet medallions with mushrooms is worthy of a king’s ransom, as are other combinations of Angus steak and petite lobster tail direct from the briny deep, along with a steak and shrimp combo. If it’s meat ye be after, the prime rib will blow ye down. Shiver me timbers if they don’t have grilled salmon, pork loin, and duck breast! Aye, and set your course for a sample platter of onion rings, artichoke dip, prime rib bites, and fish fingers to start. Enjoy the soup of the day (could be a spicy tortilla) and fresh salad bar with all the fixin’s included with the entrée. If it’s wondrous plunder you’re seeking, here it be.
Los Corsarios is a casual place to lay down yer spyglass, watch the latest sports in air-conditioned comfort, and enjoy dining on deck while watching the world pass ye by. It’s a little bigger ‘n the Cap’n’s quarters and will hold about 30 hands. Open from 11 a.m. for lunch until 11 p.m. for dinner with the bar open until 2 a.m. Enjoy Mexican folk music on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 10 p.m. until the bar’s closed. Save your doubloons. Appetizers from $6 to $17 U.S. for the sample platter. Steaks priced from $20 for Arrechera to $35 U.S. for New York strip. Combinations are $36 U.S. All major credit cards accepted. Be smartly, me lass, and drop anchor next to Marina Fiesta on the Marina, Dock B, in Cabo San Lucas, or park in the lot or on the street around the corner. Old salts and buccaneers welcome. Tel. (624) 145-6020 Ext 8014. Fair winds to ye! Sandra Berry
