Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Mexico

Dine under the stars at the premier restaurant in Cabo San Lucas featuring fresh local seafood, steaks and authentic Mexican cuisine. La Golondrina Restaurant is famous for large portions of fresh grilled fish, jumbo prawns and fresh scallops. Steaks, ribs and Mexican cuisine have earned their place with our guests as favorites in unlimited combinations. Our specialty continues to be fresh lobster and fresh, local seafood. Watch our steaks and seafood being prepared in our open air kitchen while enjoying your Caesar Salad made table side.

After dinner enjoy our famous Banana's Flambe and Flaming Mexican Coffee, both prepared table side.

La Golondrina Restaurant is the traditional name of our restaurant. The name La Golondrina was given to a trader named Julio Gomez in 1896 who built a trading post at this site in Cabo San Lucas, rumored to have been a Mission. Señor Gomez unknowingly created a bit of history. He returned faithfully from mainland Mexico to stock his trading post at the same time that the swallows returned to the Mission San Juan Capistrano each year from their winter 6,000 miles south in Argentina.

This earned him the nickname La Golondrina and became the name of this, the oldest building in Cabo San Lucas, starting a tradition with us her more than 100 years later.

First-time visitors face a difficult challenge: How do you fit in everything Los Cabos has to offer within a set number of days? The sad truth is you can’t. You can, however, do your research and ensure must-visit Los Cabos institutions like La Golondrina are etched into your itinerary. The elegant, expansive garden courtyard at this whimsical spot somehow brings together the magic of English teas, colonial México, and the Old West in a setting that is utterly romantic. Dine under the stars as strolling mariachis belt romantic ballads and more familiar tunes. The menu features Mexican standards and American favorites, with an emphasis on seafood. La Golondrina is famous for its “King Size” Pacific Lobster, but we’re partial to the Shrimp Dynamite (more than a half-pound of shrimp sautéed in a lightly piquant cream sauce, with onions, mushrooms, Parmesan, and garlic). La Golondrina’s “Surf and Turf for Two” is a feast fit for a (hungry) king and queen: a two-pound-plus lobster is served alongside carne asada, barbecue ribs, and yummy shrimp scampi. Whatever you do, be sure to save room for the dessert. The house-made confections are heaven on earth, particularly the white chocolate bread pudding and bananas flambé made tableside. Splurge guilt free: Dinner prices at this special occasion spot start at just $14 U.S., and most average from $19 U.S. to $33 U.S. Paseo del Pescador (next to City Club), Cabo San Lucas, (624) 143-0542, Nightly 5 p.m.–10:30. MasterCard and Visa accepted. $–$$ A.A.
