Paintings, Drawings, Sculptures, Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, México.

Michael and Pat Cope opened The Galeria de Todos Santos in 1994 next to the Todos Santos Inn. It was the first gallery to represent a variety of painters and sculptors in Southern Baja. While the gallery does show some foreign painters its focus still remains on Mexican themes and artists.

Featured Artists: Anibal Angulo, Cynthia Aldrich, Jill Casty, Angie Cimino, Peter Cole, Michael Cope, Brent Gearan, Peter Holden, Patricia Larsen, Gloria Marie V., Francisco Merino, Erick Ochoa, Gloria Santoyo Ruenitz, Jan Sessler, Cydney Taylor, Antonio Viveros.

Michael Cope is one Todos Santos premier artists as well. Michael majored in sculpting and design at the Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio. He has in his past travels around the world painting people he has come across. He now enjoys painting the people and landscapes of Southern Baja California. Michael works with oil on canvas and wood. His work has been shown at various exhibitions in the Los Angeles area as well as Todos Santos and is also in many private and public collections in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Great Britain. Michael had studios in Southern California, England and Greece.

Shortly after Michael and Pat got together they visited Todos Santos and fell in love with the area, bought property and moved here in 1994. While looking for a studio space he met Robert Whiting, then the owner of the Todos Santos Inn, and saw the corner space at the inn. He knew immediately it was destined to become Galeria de Todos Santos, the first fine art gallery in the area representing Mexican, American and international artists.

Michael and his wife Pat stared out running two galleries under the same name, the one in the corner of the inn and another on the corner of Calle Centenario and Calle Hidalgo. The second of these galleries was also Michael’s studio where he can often be seen at work on his latest art works. The combined galleries were the largest in Todos Santos and exhibit much of the finest art to be seen in Todos Santos.

They are making a major change on September 01, 2008 when they will moved to their new location on Calle Juarez at the end of Calle Topete. They will be moving their restaurant La Copa, an absolutely great oriental fine dining experience, to the new location as well in late November or early December. The new restaurant will be named “Oishii at the Gallery”, pronounced “Oy-Shi”, which is Japanese for “Tastes Good”.

The Galeria de Todos Santos is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
