Capo San Giovanni - Ristorante Italiano - Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Mexico
Capo San Giovanni Ristorante Italiano
Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico
After an entire decade of providing excellent, personalized service and exquisite, homemade Italian food, Capo San Giovanni is still going strong in downtown Cabo San Lucas.
Owner and Executive Chef Gianfranco Zappalá enthusiastically greets diners in his white chef’s jacket, complete with miniature Italian flags, quite literally wearing his patriotism on his sleeve.
This, as well as the flavorful food he serves, shows that he takes his Southern Italian cuisine very seriously, committing himself to serving authentic dishes filled with the freshest ingredients, exactly the way his grandmother would have served them in their hometown of Bova Marina, now serving the most important wine from around the world and speciality from Italy.
The restaurant itself could have been modeled after his Italian grandmother’s home in Italy as well, for it is quaint, cozy, and homey.
Small windows in front open to passersby on the street, and a narrow but very long patio area in back awaits, with abundant ivy and dangling bunches of grapes hanging from lattice work all around. The air-conditioned interior is fairly small, although charming, full of life, with photos and delicious aromas from the kitchen wafting through the place.Wine aficionados will find more than 170 labels both domestic and imported varieties from Italy, Chile, Argentina, and France, in a wood rack and also from cold cave available by the glass or bottle.
Capo San Giovanni´s menu boasts an entire page of appetizers, or antipasti, ranging from bruschetta and fried calamari to salads, clams, and unbelievably delicious sausage and spinach rolls. Pastas used are spaghetti, capellini, linguine, fettuccine, or penne, and can be accompanied by classic sauces like tomato (both spicy and non), Alfredo, Primavera, Bolognese, and creamy white wine also can enjoy Gianfranco’s deli gourmet special plates with the marritage with special wines. Those are just the tip of the iceberg, too.
