I have owned dozens of motorcycles in the past 35 years but never a BMW. I purchased a used 2005 K1200LT last January and started riding it in March. My wife and I rode the LT to NC to pick up a camping trailer in late March and pulled it home 2400 miles.

The LT handled great and even two up pulling a trailer through the mountains I rode in 5th gear. We awoke to 23 degrees one morning on the Blueridge Parkway and the heated grips and seats sure felt good. This is the best riding most comfortable bike I have owned. I don't know why I waited so long. My job allows me to ride the LT 200 miles a day through beautiful northern Michigan "I know, tough job" I have put 9000 miles on her since March with No problems. Remember dress for fall not for the ride.

This performance sports tourer is a dynamic, more civilized version of the revolutionary K 1200 R, which won Motorcyclist's Bike of the Year in 2005. I had an '02' KLR 650 for about a year and just didnt have any power on the highway. Since then I have been looking for a replacement but never found one. I recently test rode a R1200GS and now I know what I want. Just need to get the money inorder and im gone.
