After an opening night kick-off fiesta and two full days of shows, the second Cabo Comedy Festival in three years\u2013the 2014 event was cancelled in the wake of Hurricane Odile\u2013is in full swing, with top stand-up comedians performing in English and Spanish at nightclub venues around Cabo San Lucas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After a slow start on Thursday, Friday was standing room only, with locals and visitors packed into downtown nightclubs La Divina and Desperados.<\/a> Macario Brujo and Alan Salda\u00f1a led a star-studded lineup at La Divina, while Desperados\u2019 slate was highlighted by Idiotest host Ben Gleib and Mexico City native Ren\u00e9 Franco, whose comedy brilliance helped make up for the festival\u2019s one disappointment: that popular Mexican-American comedian Paul Rodriguez was forced to cancel his appearances, which were to include stand-up sets in both English and Spanish.<\/p>\n

Tonight is the festival\u2019s final night of shows, with tomorrow\u2019s concluding fiesta scheduled to take place tomorrow at 1 p.m. at M\u00e9dano beachfront party spot non pareil<\/em> Mango Deck<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition to the finals of the Jack Rollins Breakthrough Talent Competition at 8 p.m.\u2013with the winner to appear on Gotham Comedy Live\u2013Desperados hosts headliners Sid Davis, Francisco Ramos, Ahmed Ahmed, and Frank Nicotero at 10 p.m.; followed by the Sirius\/XM simulcasted \u201cBest of the Fest\u201d at midnight, featuring Al Jackson, Deb DiGiovanni, Tiffany Haddish, Francisco Ramos, Monroe Martin, and Drew Lynch. Tickets are $10 for the talent competition\u2013special guest Elayne Boosler will be presented the Giant in Comedy Award at the conclusion\u2013and $20 for the later shows.<\/p>\n

La Divina hosts a Spanish language show tonight at 9 p.m., headlined by Cisco, Ren\u00e9 Franco, Roberto Flores, Fran Hevia, Carlos Ballarta, and Gon Curiel. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online here<\/a>, or at the door. The after-party for both venues will be held at Baja Junkie, and begins at 1 a.m.<\/p>\n
