\"ford-ironman-los-cabos-2013-r2\"<\/a>On March 17, 2013 will be held \u00a0the first edition of the Ford Ironman Los Cabos.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1,500 participants from 48 countries are expected for the inaugural event in 2013. Ford Ironman Los Cabos offers a professional prize purse of $75,000 and 50 coveted age-group slots to the 2013 Ironman World Championship, taking place on Oct. 12, 2013.<\/p>\n

United States is the country that have more participants, with a total of 545 athletes, followed by Mexico with 430, Argentina 55, Canada 51, Costa Rica 25, Australia 20 and Brazil 19 to name a few.<\/p>\n

The activities of the 2013 Ford Ironman Los Cabos begin on Thursday March 14 with the opening of the Expo and registration and athlete packet pick up from 12:00 to 18 pm at the Hola Grand Faro hotel convention center.<\/p>\n

On Friday March 15 will continue the Expo and the package pick up from 9:00 to 18:00. The pasta dinner will take place at 18:00 at Club Campestre San Jos\u00e9 Beach Club<\/p>\n

Saturday March 16 from 11:00 to 16:00 bike check in at Playa Palmilla Cove.<\/p>\n

Sunday March 17 6:50 official start of the Ford Ironman Los Cabos 2013<\/b>. At 24:00 hr will be the Official Cut-Off Race.<\/p>\n

Awards ceremony will be held on Monday March 18 at 18:00 hr at\u00a0 Puerto Para\u00edso Mall.<\/p>\n

Course Description Ford Ironman Los Cabos 2013<\/b>:<\/p>\n

SWIM:<\/strong> 2.4 miles (3.8 km):<\/strong>
\nIt will take place in Palmilla Beach, inside the luxurious Palmilla development. Inside the tranquil bay, the swim along this protected cove will be a perfect setting for the one lap, rectangular shaped course. Reference buoys will be located every 100m, with large 2m buoys placed at every corner. Water temperature during the month of March is regularly at 72\u00baF (22\u00baC).\u00a0 T1 will be located 100m from swim exit at the beach parking lot.<\/p>\n

BIKE: <\/strong>112 miles (180 km):: <\/strong>
\nComing out of T1, a short climb of 500 meters will take you to the scenic Tourist corridor that joins Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. This perfectly paved highway of 33km will also link with the toll road from San Jose to the airport to complete a 90km course to which you will circle twice. This challenging, fun and spectacularly beautiful rolling terrain will contrast the azure waters of the Sea of Cortes on one side and the desert mountains on the other, passing along the most exclusive resorts and famous golf courses of Los Cabos. Average temperature is expected at 68\u00baF (20\u00baC).<\/p>\n

T2 will be located at the heart of downtown San Jose, 5 km north of T1.<\/p>\n

RUN: <\/strong>26.2 miles (42.2 km): <\/strong>
\nThe run will be mostly flat, over a 3 lap, 14km course, around the streets of downtown San Jose, with the finish line in front of City Hall and within walking distance to T2.<\/p>\n

Timing splits for every segment of the competition will be available.<\/p>\n

For the swimming segment the time limit is 2:20 hours after the race start, any competitor who remains in the water after this time will be disqualified, and cannot continue with the race.<\/p>\n

For the bike segment the time limit is 10:30 hours after the race start, any competitor who remains on the bike course after this time will be disqualified, and cannot continue with the race.<\/p>\n

The same rules and conditions apply to the running segment with a time limit of 17 hours after the race starts.<\/p>\n
