There\u2019s this beautiful place by the ocean where palm trees sway in the tidal breeze and the water is crystal blue.<\/span><\/p>\n

The towns that dot the coast are quaint little villages with more of a connection to yesterday than today, with shops where you can haggle over price or sample a mini-shot of fine tequila.<\/span><\/p>\n

The pace is different there, you know. Not everybody is tied to a cell phone that tells them where to be and when. Appointments are casual. And, the attitude is truly, \u201cNo shirt, no shoes, no problem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s rather communal, in a way. If one merchant doesn\u2019t have exactly what you want or need, he knows of another who does.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a crossroads where people from different countries and cultures can meet, share a little time, and share some of life\u2019s rich diversity.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are going to miss it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The purpose of our move to Mexico was twofold. To begin with, Cara and I are adventurous. We don\u2019t like the shuttered lifestyle and view the world as this glorious table from which to sample what life has to offer. We share a mutual curiosity about different places, people, cultures. We came to Los Cabos about \"\"<\/a>3 \u00bd years ago to celebrate falling in love. We returned 1 \u00bd years ago to celebrate falling in love with this beautiful place.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also came down here for another reason.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>As a writer, there are always words swirling around in my head and I had a bunch of them. I used some to do a kind of reporting that was totally different than anything I had ever done before, to describe a culture, a place that many people misunderstand. I used some to explore different forms of media, that I had dabbled with in the past, and it was exciting. Things are much different today in that world than when I first started slinging words together for a living and, quite frankly, I enjoy the new media.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, I used a few more\u201494,490 to be precise\u2014for a book I call \u201cplygs<\/a>.\u201d A lot of years went into the research for this book, but in my former life, I simply did not have the time to put those words together. We came here to find that space, and we did.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a result, we have a book up on Amazon.com<\/a> that has received some nice reviews and interest. It is time to broaden that interest, but circumstances make that difficult to do from Los Cabos, so it\u2019s back to the United States, at least for awhile, to do a proper job with the PR and promo necessary. It cannot be done properly from 1,100 miles away.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, hasta la vista, Los Cabos, at least for awhile, as we take care of business, which means, probably, a rather nomadic existence for a bit.<\/span><\/p>\n

We will miss this place, these people, this culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

But, when the job is done, we will be back.<\/span><\/p>\n
