{"id":4638,"date":"2014-07-11T09:15:50","date_gmt":"2014-07-11T15:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/?p=4638"},"modified":"2014-07-11T09:15:50","modified_gmt":"2014-07-11T15:15:50","slug":"hot-licks-the-summer-music-scene-in-cabo-san-lucas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/hot-licks-the-summer-music-scene-in-cabo-san-lucas\/","title":{"rendered":"Hot Licks:  The Summer Music  Scene in Cabo San Lucas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_4639\" style=\"width: 204px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Daline-Jones.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4639\" class=\"wp-image-4639 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Daline-Jones-194x300.jpg\" alt=\"Daline Jones\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Daline-Jones-194x300.jpg 194w, https:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Daline-Jones.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4639\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Daline Jones Group&#8217;s Sunday shows at Cerritos Beach are a staple of the local live music scene.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Like everything else in <a title=\"Los cabos Guide\" href=\"http:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\" target=\"_blank\">Los Cabos<\/a>, the live music scene tapers off a bit during the slower summer season, as local musicians take well-earned vacations or head off on the musician&#8217;s version of the working vacation: the tour. \u00a0But despite the volume knob being turned down a notch, metaphorically speaking, there are still plenty of great performers around to keep things cool on hot summer nights.<\/p>\n<p>Hard-rocking live music remains a staple at many of Cabo San Lucas\u2019s best bars and clubs\u2014<a title=\"Cabo Blue\" href=\"http:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/cabobluebar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cabo Blue<\/a>, <a title=\"Cabo Wabo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/cabowabo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cabo Wabo<\/a>, <a title=\"Rockstone Tavern and Eatery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/rockstone\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Rockstone Tavern &amp; Eatery<\/a>,<a title=\"Cabo Lounge\" href=\"https:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/cabo-lounge-bar-cabo-san-lucas\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Cabo Lounge<\/a>\u00a0 and Tanga Tanga, to name a few\u2014and, in addition to livening up the downtown nightlife scene, local entertainers also provide the proper seaside ambience at some of the region\u2019s best beachfront bars and cantinas.<\/p>\n<p>Longtime residents will recognize the names, but for visitors here are a few of the best local bands to see this summer:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Daline Jones Group<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Singer Daline Jones headlines one of Los Cabos\u2019 signature musical experiences: Sunday jazz at <a title=\"Cerritos Beach Club and Surf\" href=\"http:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/pescadero\/cerritosbeachclub\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cerritos Beach Club &amp; Surf<\/a> (weekly, 2\u20135 p.m.). \u00a0Dig your toes in the sand, order a seafood combo platter and a bucket of ice cold cervezas, and watch surfers riding waves into the beach as Jones and keyboardist Diego Ramirez provide a <em>tranquilo<\/em> tropical soundtrack of Latin-flavored jazz. \u00a0Corona commercials wish they could be this cool. Words\u00a0 don\u2019t do his guitar playing justice: he\u2019s a virtuoso, with a set list that occasionally veers from hard driving rock n\u2019 roll into acoustic <a title=\"Country in Cabo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/more-country-in-cabo-musicians-band-together-for-a-good-cause\/\" target=\"_blank\">country<\/a> or blues territory. During\u00a0the past two decades, Flynn has\u00a0 played at virtually every live music venue in Los Cabos (including a few that <a title=\"Los Cabos live music scene 1990s\" href=\"https:\/\/www.loscabosguide.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/seems-like-old-times-reunion-concert-evokes-cabos-golden-age-of-live-music\/\" target=\"_blank\">aren\u2019t around anymore<\/a>), and he\u2019s amassed an extremely loyal following.
