Spencer’s Restaurant is located in the Hotel Mar de Cortez. Located in the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas It’s an indoor-outdoor (covered) restaurant and includes a full bar.
With bright pink walls, a rainbow of hand carved-hand painted colorful chairs, tables draped in white table cloths accented with multi colored, and red overlays, Spencer’s shouts “olé!
The rustic décor adds to the comfortable and casual atmosphere. Many of the clientele are patrons of the hotel, although it is a very popular spot for ex-pats; like myself.
The price and quality of the meals, and the beautiful setting in a quaint Colonial-style courtyard, is why repeat clientele return to great service and down home hospitality.
For breakfast, the “World’s best French Toast,” stuffed with cream cheese is to die for! Or try the Deep Fried French Toast - you will not be disappointed. The Crab Benedict is wonderful. One can still order eggs any style, served with home fried potatoes, fresh fruit and buttered toast. Breakfast ranges from $4.50 to $12.00 US, and house specialty “Eggs Benedict for only $11.00 US.
If you can get past this part of the breakfast menu, go for the Chilaquiles, huevos rancheros or the huevos mexicanos, priced at $7.00 to $9.50 US. Spencer’s lunch menu has a variety of sandwiches, served on a baquette with your choice of either salad or fries, and salads - spinach, garden or tossed. Lunches from $5.00 to $15.00 US. Mexican plates, such as tampiqueña, chile relleno, enchiladas go for $7.50 to $12.00 US. Start dinner with appetizers from $3.00 to $12.00 US.
The menu has everything from Mexican dishes, to New York steak, shrimp any way you like it, seafood combos and lobster. (I got full just reading it). Dinner from $7.50 to $30.00. The menu also caters to the little tots! May 2008 - Shirley Sigala
