If you haven’t been to Romeo & Julieta lately, you probably haven’t sampled the delicious food of Matias Forte. The personable and welcoming Italian-born chef worked and studied for 10 years in Germany, where he met a beautiful Mexican woman who brought him here. Forte insists on using only the freshest and finest quality ingredients. The signature Caesar salad continues to be prepared tableside, and the antipasto de la casa bar is available
As for entrées, the gnocchi Napolitano is exquisite; the Medagliones Funghi with mushroom and red wine sauce melts in your mouth; and the sea bass in a white wine, caper, and lemon butter sauce divine. Don’t forget about the pizza with the generous toppings that can also be ordered for take-out. In fact, all meals are generously portioned. Save room for the house-made desserts: tiramisu, a chocolate mint bomb, and fresh fruit on meringue.
If the lights go off while you are there, don’t worry; look around for the flames of the Mexican coffee being prepared. Reservations are highly recommended. Entrée prices range from $10 U.S. to $25 U.S. Boulevard Marina and Camino del Cerro, Cabo San Lucas, (624) 143-0225, www.restaurantromeoyjulieta.com.
