The Shoppes At Palmilla
An innovative shopping trend has come to Los Cabosthe “lifestyle” center. More costly than the traditional strip center, developer John Pentz envisioned The Shoppes At Palmilla as having a sense of excitement for the community. Attention to detail shows in every aspect of this unique luxury creation within the exclusive Palmilla Resort, with 40,000 square-feet of retail and 10,000 square-feet of full-service executive suites in Phase I. The Shoppes At Palmilla opened in November 2005 and has become “the” gathering place in the Tourist Corridor for high end shopping and fine dining.
Easily accessed from the highway, The Shoppes At Palmilla has the feel of Old World México with its fountains, cantera stone and elegant décor, in step with Palmilla's lovely colonial architecture. Within is the award winning Nick-San Japanese Restaurant, and Pearl, with seafood and continental cuisine. Café Delight offers delicious pastries and coffee drinks. For fine gems and jewelry, Legacy Jewelers specializes in colored gemstones, with Diamonds International's Hi-Line store carrying diamonds of up to 10 carats. From fashionable Tlaquepaque comes Antigua de México, designers and manufacturers of contemporary and colonial furniture. Artesanía Mágica, of México City, offers a rich collection of exclusive handcrafted painted furniture designs and gifts, with Pez Gordo a trendsetting contemporary art gallery. Added to the elite mix are Casa Vieja, with beautiful designer women's wear and accessories, Cabana for swim and beachwear, and Tiki Lounge, a Tommy Bahama boutique shop. Paradise Golf Shop will appeal to fashion-conscious golfers; and Hive, sister to Chicago's celebrity-favorite day spa Honey Child, is sure to pamper and please.
Tiendas de Palmilla is anchored by Snell Real Estate's new corporate offices; and International Insurance Services has opened offices here for all types of vehicle, home, medical and emergency coverage.
“This trend brings together the best advantages of a mall, but in a smaller, more intimate setting,” notes John Pentz, who has frequented Los Cabos for 18 years and is finally realizing his dream project. “It's a place where people can spend time shopping, dining, and wandering through the beautifully designed plaza.” Pentz is a leader in corporate and civic life in Newport Beach, California, but, along with wife, Melinda, is spending more and more time in Los Cabos. Another 30,000 square feet in Phase II are slated for completion in 2007, with more upscale retailers. “This is a center that Cabo can be proud of,” says Pentz, “and I'm happy to be a part of it.”
