The Office
Like no office you ever worked at before, this fun-filled Playa El Médano restaurant and bar is unique. Since 1987, The Office has been center stage amongst all Playa Médano venues. Many early risers find this location to be perfect for a morning beach walk followed by a tasty Mexican breakfast of Huevos Rancheros or Omelet de Camaron y Queso (shrimp and cheese omelet). The orange juice is fresh and the coffee is a rich, special house blend. When lunchtime rolls along have one of The Office assistants bring you an Acapulco style Ceviche cocktail or a special hamburger. At The Office, national beers are priced two for one all day long. Fresh fish and an array of Mexican dishes are also available. During a hot afternoon remember to ask the waiters for a cold water spray bottle to keep you cool. At sunset this restaurant takes on a club-like atmosphere providing their guests with a Mexican fiesta of folkloric dances and party favors every Monday, Thursday and Sunday at 6:30pm. Enjoy the show with Steamed Lobster Tail or Baja Style Camaron Gigante (Jumbo Shrimp). The Full Moon Special combines a Lobster Tail with Shrimp Scampi and is served with rice and stir-fried vege-tables. Mexican dishes are also a house specialty. We recommend the Enchiladas de Pollo or the Tampiqueña top sirloin steak. Enjoy this restaurant for all it has to offer and feel free to make special requests. The staff at The Office pride themselves on making their customers happy at all times. Very popular with large groups; dinner reservations are necessary. Open daily 7am to 10pm. Telephone: 143-3464 or 143-4919.

O Mole Mio
On Marina Boulevard in Plaza del Sol, down the street from The Giggling Marlin, O Mole Mio offers contemporary Mexican cuisine. On entering this beautiful two-story restaurant you’ll be taken aback by the unique décor. Ernesto Cruz, a well-known artist from Guadalajara designed the interior and did a fantastic job. It is a fabulous blend of wood and metal intertwined to create a unique contemporary Mexican look. A comfortable setting with fully stocked bars on both levels affords quick service when ordering your favorite drink. If you are into people watching you cannot ask for a better spot. The specialty of the house, as their name indicates, is different mole sauces, a combination of chocolate and a myriad of spices traditionally served over turkey. Try the El Solo Mio, a delicious Filete de Huachinango (snapper fillet) seasoned with Cajun spices, or Cocinado a la Parrilla (grilled pork), accompanied by O Mole Mio’s innovative version of tropical mango salsa. Here is a restaurant that prides itself on having one of the most interesting menus in Cabo and on serving the finest in regional Mexican food. This is a great place to start your evening and after a delicious meal you can enjoy the delights of Cabo after dark. Open from 11am until midnight with the kitchen closing at 11:30pm. Don’t take a chance, call for reservations during peak dining hours. Telephone: 143-7577.

Pazzo’s Pizzeria
If you’re in the mood for some down to earth Italian cooking or an extra-vagant pizza fit for a holiday, Pazzo’s Pizzeria Restaurant and Cantina is for you. As soon as you walk in the door you will discover the unique architecture. It has a bar open to the sky and decorated in a whimsical tribute to Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday tradition). Since 1995, this pizzeria has offered an excellent choice for visitors and locals alike. Local bands play live music from a balcony overlooking the bar. Thursday night is Ladies Night at Pazzo’s and has become a Cabo San Lucas tradition with the locals. Famous for doing things their own way, try a chocolate rimmed vodka martini or an Evil Knievel, a refreshing fruity house special from the well-stocked, fun-filled bar—they also carry a full line of tequilas. The lunch specials include a national drink with your meal and are very reasonably priced. For dinner we can recommend the ample Combo Pizza Special made with a variety of super fresh ingredients. The Lobster Combo is served with your choice of soup or salad and shrimp, fish or scallops. All pasta dishes are cooked to perfection with many sauces to choose from. Try the Fettuccini Alfredo or Seafood Fettuccine with fresh shrimp and scallops sautéed in a light Italian sauce. Vegetarian Lasagna is available as well as two other varieties made with meat or seafood. The Spinach Manicotti is high on our list of fav-orites. Pazzo’s is also cigar friendly with a well-stocked humidor. Located on the corner of Morelos and Niños Heroes in Cabo San Lucas. Open daily 11am to midnight. Telephone: 143-4313.

Peacocks Bar AND Restaurant
Peacocks is one of the crown jewels for fine food in Los Cabos. Arriving at this restaurant will transport you to a dimension of luxury, comfort and style. Candlelit tables in a brick lined courtyard create an ambiance all its own. Peacocks Bar and Restaurant invites you to relax and enjoy an evening of comfort with an air of romance. Each table has its own personality and style. Some are hidden away in the beautiful courtyard, others are in the main dining room under soft lighting, all are very private. Dinner at this gourmet restaurant is a flavorful event. Selecting from a list of fine appetizers is your first task. Seafood Dumplings with Caviar in Béarnaise, Escargot Mexican style or Mozzarella and Blue Cheese Quesadillas with Mexican Salsa are just a few of the openers. Seafood entrées, pasta, meat or poultry dishes are prepared from exquisite recipes with flair. The house specialties include Lobster accompanied by a variety of different sauces. Fettuccine with Shrimp and Scallops in tomato sauce is excellent. Fresh baked whole Red Snapper or the Catch of the Day are prepared with fine herbs in lemon butter and both are a rewarding dining experience. Almost everything on Peacock’s menu is worth coming to Cabo San Lucas for. Add an extensive international wine list as well as refined desserts accompanied by superb service and you will understand why this eatery has been know as one of the areas finest over the years. Pitahayas Restaurant
Nestled beach side at Sheraton Hacienda del Mar and spectacular in every sense, Pitahayas deserves and has received international recognition—the Five Star Diamond Award to Chef Volker Romeicke and staff for excellence in their field of cuisine. Sitting under an impressively large palapa next to the Sea of Cortez creates the setting for an open aired, sophisticated evening of dining pleasure. Elegance combined with gracious service is what makes this restaurant a must for those who enjoy the finer things in life. The menu offers an exotic blend of flavors from different Pacific Rim countries with a twist, like Kahlua Potstickers filled with smoked pork accompanied by black bean garlic sauce and cilantro. Blackened Yellow Fin Tuna with red lentil salad and soy mustard sauce is another favorite. The wok and specialties section of the menu includes Rose Liquor Glazed Duckling with Passion Fruit or wok charred Seabass in Garlic Sesame Crust with ginger and lime sauce. From the grill you can delight in the New York steak rubbed with seven spices, or the trilogy of fresh local Seafood, half a Lobster tail with vanilla bean sauce, Blackened Fish with mango relish and Sautéed Shrimp in wasabi butter. Take a moment to explore Los Cabos’ only underground wine cellar and choose from its extensive list of wines and champagnes. Desserts are as delicious as they look. Pitahayas is a wonderful experience as well as an opportunity to visit one of Los Cabos’ most beautiful resorts. Reservations are recommended and resort attire is requested. Romeo y Julieta Ristorante Italiano
The Spanish Mediterranean feel and the fine dining experience of great Italian food make Romeo y Julieta a must. Two spacious dining areas, one with a view of the stars and the other enjoying the comfort of air conditioning insure that your night’s enjoyment will be comfortable and fun. The décor is old-world Mediterranean and has the feel and smell of an eatery in Italy. The friendly waiters hurry through the tables ensuring that your dining experience at Romeo & Julieta is pleasant. They have a fine selection of domestic and imported wines and liquors to choose from, and the Mexican coffee is a real flaming treat. The menu offers a wide variety of Italian dishes, and the prices are very reasonable. The daily special is one of the most popular entrées and consists of Caesar Salad, Spaghetti Pesto, Fettuccini Alfredo, a delicious dessert and coffee. That’s not all, though, because with all this comes the main course which changes every day. The Scampi Provenzale with Cannelloni was fantastic. Other nights it might be fish, veal or chicken. The Caesar salad is out of this world and is what has made this restaurant famous. Another favorite and much-requested dish is the Medagliones Funghi (veal medallions) served in a delicious mushroom and red wine sauce. It is one of the house’s special recipes. Do not forget the many great pizzas on the menu and once you try one of them you will be back for more. The desserts are delightful and sweet. Romeo y Julieta is located just off Marina Boulevard on Camino del Cerro and is open from 4 pm until 11 pm Reservations are recommended. Telephone: 143-0225

Sancho Panza
Definitely Mediterranean with a Latino flare, this intimate, eclectic bistro strives to impress even the most sophisticated patron with style, quality and an exotic bill of fare. Considered one of Los Cabos’ finest culinary experiences, Monica, Ron and Ruben combine artistic ambiance, a fantastic and extensive wine list and a relaxed atmosphere, making Sancho Panza one of the most talked about spots in Cabo San Lucas. Taking its name from Spanish literature (Sancho Panza was Don Quixote’s loyal servant in the classic novel written by Miguel de Cervantes in 1604) the interiors are decorated with Picasso, Dali, and Miro motifs with the city of Barcelona in mind. Contemporary art exhibits and a low-key jazz band set the mood for a memorable evening. The menu is a creation of owner/chef Monica Hidalgo, who constantly improves on her creativity and research into the newest trends and flavors from around the world. “Creative Mediterranean cuisine with a Latin twist” implies combining the best of the old and new world. The menu reads like a sexy, Epicurean novella—Wine and Fresh Herbed Shrimp Curried Quesadillas, Spicy Mango Passion Fruit Grilled Lamb Sticks, Sautéed Quail with Mushrooms and Sherry Sauce dressed with Peppered Pears, Sage and Blue Cheese Lobster Medallions with Vanilla Mousseline Sauce—all food fit for the Gods. The menu changes every three days inviting vacationers to return and be surprised all over again. Be assured that whenever you do stop in to Sancho Panza you will be experiencing a wonderful world-class meal and be part of a very creative event as well. You will find this soulful venue located just behind Plaza Las Glorias and the Seafood Mama’s lighthouse off the marina access in Cabo San Lucas (well worth the search). Reservations are recommended. Open Monday through Saturday from 4pm to 11pm. From November 1st through April 30th they are open for breakfast and lunch after 8am. Telephone: 143-3212

Seafood Mama’s
If you’ve strolled the marina in Cabo San Lucas you’ve probably noticed the building in front of Plaza Las Glorias designed to look like a lighthouse. Seafood Mama’s is a comfortable restaurant with a broad menu with something for every taste. From this vantage point you’ll not find a better view of the marina, whether you’re starting your day or finishing it. With a comfortable décor and a relaxed environment, Seafood Mama’s is great for romantic dinners or small groups. Dinner appetizers range from Fresh Wild Mushrooms in Garlic, Caesar Salad for Two, Seafood Soup with Pernod and a well stocked Salad Bar. Pastas are well represented and reasonably priced with your choice of spaghetti, fusilli, fettuccini or ravioli with many different toppings. Try the Puttanesca or the Seafood Linguini. Main courses favor seafood and surf and turf combinations like Lobster and Rib Eye or Shrimp and Rib Eye. Other good choices are the Medallions of Sole and the Seafood Symphony, a mix of all that’s fresh from the sea. Enjoy a glass of Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon while you take in the marina and all it’s going ons. For dessert try the Cherries Jubilee or the Crepes Suzette, both sinful concoctions perfect for drawing a wonderful evening to a close. Telephone: 143-1220.

The Shrimp Factory
Once you reach the tropics something happens to your taste buds and you just have to have some great seafood, and what better seafood than fresh shrimp. The Shrimp Factory is a bright, open-air restaurant located just across the street from Plaza Las Glorias and is a great place to satisfy your hunger. Now we’re talking about a lot of different shrimp and seafood dishes and if you’re guilty of being a shrimp glutton, try the fresh, boiled, steaming hot shrimp by the kilo. You can sit forever peeling and eating those delicious crustaceans and you don’t have to worry about them running out, no matter how much you eat. If shrimp is not your forte, do not despair because you can also dine on fresh, steaming hot lobster by the kilo. But, as the name indicates, this is a restaurant that specializes in shrimp and they have it any way you can think of (and a few ways you would never think of). The fully stocked bar will take care of any whim, but you must to try one of their jumbo cocktails…hey, why not?, you are on vacation! Don’t pass up the yummy appetizers and tasty desserts either. After dinner walk the marina and check out the luxurious yachts that grace our harbor, then go dancing, and let loose. Open daily from 11am to 11pm. Telephone: 143-5066.

Sunrise Charlie’s - (Closed)
Here’s a fun beach club with its own facilities, located at the foot of Paseo del Pescador on Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas. Kick back and enjoy the beautiful pool and swim up palapa bar and make Sunrise Charlie’s your beach headquarters. A great location for parties and special events, Sunrise Charlie’s is like your own tropical oasis. Get a group together and spend the day, or night, enjoying fine food, entertainment or just hang out and watch your favorite sporting events on the satellite TVs. The staff are friendly and the service courteous and prompt. The kitchen area is open with a shady palapa over the bar and more umbrellas for shade on the main dining platform and pool area. The day menu is casual and affordable ranging from seafood cocktails, salads, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, burgers and sandwiches. In the evening the menu expands to include Lobster, shrimp, steaks and chicken. A fun place to hang out on Playa el Médano with the added bonus of a beach club, Sunrise Charlie’s is a place like no other with daily drink specials, happy hours and a fun atmosphere to guarantee you fantastic vacation memories. Open 11am to 11pm. Telephone: 143-9096.Restaurant Terranova at Posada Terranova
A gathering place for local Josefinos and a great find for visitors, the unassuming Restaurant Terranova serves well prepared Mexican favorites with prompt service and reasonable prices. When you leave, you feel that you have gotten good value for your dollar and know a few more things about life in a small, friendly Mexican town. The Tolentino family has had the posada for what seems like forever, and although they’ve expanded and renovated over the years, the basic good homestyle food has always been the draw. Breakfast won’t break your bank (unlike a lot of places) with traditional favorites like Machaca con Huevos and Chilaquiles. Lunch is a pleasant combination of salads and Mexican standards such as Quesadillas, Enchiladas, Filete de Pescado and Carne Asada Tacos. For dinner, the menu becomes more sophisticated and the pleasant, intimate terrace is transformed with the addition of soft lighting and the occasional wandering minstrel. Try the affordable Seafood Soup for starters or the Caesar Salad, done the old Tijuana way. For your main course, the Mexican Combination is light and flavorful, and features Enchiladas with green chili sauce. The Seafood Brochette, a combination of shrimp and other available seafood is garnished with baked potato and vegetables. Posada Terranova also has a full bar and desserts, the flan being delicious. Located just off the main “downstreet” into town, Calle Zaragoza, on Degollado, four blocks up from Boulevard Mijares in San José del Cabo. Open daily from 7am to 10pm. Telephone: 142-0534.

The Trailer Park AT El Faro Viejo
This is the original Trailer Park now under new ownership. Open since 1979, and it’s true, there are a lot of copycats out there, but the others don’t compare to El Faro Viejo. It is a little off the beaten path, but it is one of Cabo San Lucas’ old time favorites. Located within an actual trailer park, in the old days this restaurant was one of the few in town and the only place that you could get lobster cooked to perfection. Look for the Baby Back Ribs, Jumbo Shrimp and the Seafood Combo for Two. The menu is really quite extensive with huge servings and it’s one of the few places you can get frogs legs in the Baja peninsula! There is a gift shop that has a wide range of Mexican ceremonial masks and it fits right in with the rustic décor of this restaurant. El Faro Viejo is open from 5pm to 10pm, bring cash, as they do not accept credit cards. During high season there are often lines to get in so go early to avoid the wait. To get there, go northwest up Calle Matamoros (towards the back of town) for about seven or eight blocks. It’s on Antonio Mijares between Matamoros and Abasolo. It might help to ask someone local to point you in the right direction, it´s well worth the adventure…or, take a cab. Telephone: 143-1927.
