Captain Tony's Bar & Grill Cabo San Lucas Marina

”This year, More than anything, we are hoping to attract more locals to Captain Tony’s,” said José Luis Nieves Pérez, originally from Acapulco, who has been manager for the last few years. ”We are offering locals a 10% discount, that will turn into 15% after a few more frequent visits,” added Jose Luis.
For anyone unfamiliar with Captain Tony’s address, they are located at the corner of the Marina next to and behind the huge gray colored Cultural Pavilion building near the Cabo Adventures Dolphin Center and the huge Marlin sculpture next to the little white tarp covered Mercado, by the Tesoro Resort Hotel parking lot.
”While we open for breakfast at 5:00 AM, we also want everyone to know that they can come in and have breakfast as late as 3:00 PM. We normally have live music three nights a week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with our exceptional house band, “Pura Vida”, but for now live music has been suspended in Cabo under Covid-19 safety protocol,” noted Jose Luis Nieves. ”And when people bring us their recently caught fish, we cook and can prepare them in five different ways. And we serve them with a salad, followed by their fish with a side of rice and vegetables or beans and rice or with french fries. All for just $ 9 USD. And every person can choose their own individual choice of sides, they don’t all have to be the same.”
Captain Tony’s daily special consists of soup or salad, and a main dish, with dessert; served with their fresh homemade natural Mexican water drink healthy flavors of guayaba, apple, orange, lemonade, and cucumber with lemon. All for an affordably priced $ 95 pesos during winter and $120-135 Mexican pesos every spring and summer during high season.
“When I arrived from the mainland state of Guerrero in 2011, they didnt have a sushi bar and since I had 10 years experience in San Diego and 5 years preparing sushi in Houston and Beaumont, Texas, I convinced management to open a sushi bar,” said Chef Nicolas Ayala Dominguez, whose curricanes specialty has become a much talked about favorite dish which customers have enjoyed and shared their happiness via yelp and tripadvisor reviews; which in turn has given rise to its popularity
”We came to Captain Tony’s three times while we were in Cabo. In my opinion, it is the best spot on the Marina with enough locals and tourists to balance it all out. They have mats on the floor to disinfect your shoes and you they also take your temp, and everyone is wearing their mask. They have a big menu boards on an easel to make sure no Covid touching for both food and drinks,” said Vuyelwa W. of Hercules, California, after her December 2020 visit. ”Over the three days we had seafood pasta, crispy shrimp tacos and whole red snapper. All perfectly cooked and delicious.”
”This was one of the most exceptional dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time. We were greeted by a manager at the entrance. There
was a hand washing station, a requirement to wear masks until you arrived at your table, and temperature checks at the door. When we arrived at the table we were presented with paper menus. There was also a menu board on an easel that went around to new tables. We ordered cocktails and then guacamole. Margaritas were excellent as was the table side guacamole. I had tuna tostadas and they were delicious. My wife had coconut shrimp and once again they were the simply the best,” explained Ross L. of Northport, Alabama, on Yelp after his August 2020 vacation. ”I have to say they handled the difficult times of a global pandemic with ease and efficiency. But even without that this was a perfect experience.” he added.
”We had such a fun time at this restaurant. The service was perfecto.” gushed Cyndi G. from Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
”The staff immediately greeted us and took our temperature.  We were seated with a beautiful view overlooking the water. We ordered a bit of everything off the menu to try different items. One of their new items is the tuna wrapped with spicy crab and avocado (curricanes). My boyfriend loved it and ate the whole plate. Also ordered the spicy shrimp which is very spicy, so be aware if you don’t like spicy food.  Blackened fish was excellent. Baja fish tacos were good. Overall, a great experience, and their prices were reasonable,” shared Melissa L. of Kent, Washington.
Captain Tony’s is open from 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM, Monday thru Wednesday and on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays they’re open until 11:00 PM. The fun, festive and fantastic dining establishment also serves tasty wood oven pizzas that are 100% artesana; whose dough and tomato sauce are made from scratch.
And hold on, there’s more. Captain Tony’s also prepares early morning 5:00 AM box lunch pick-ups for everyone that is going fishing at those standard break of dawn hours. The $9 USD/$180 peso box lunch contains two breakfast burritos of either/and shredded beef or chicken. plus one baguette sandwich, an apple and a cookie.Pandemic or not, Captain Tony’s, is a can’t miss restaurant to visit.
