Alex, owner of El Mesón de Zapata, has been operating the restaurant since May 2002. The restaurant is small and comfortable, with a casual ambience.
Collections of Mexican folk art decorate the walls, especially depictions of “Dia de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) characters.
Zapata’s restaurant is a real find to those who want to experience authentic Mexican dishes, or fresh seafood grilled, sautéed, roasted or fried.
The dishes include the richest condiments and special herbs to give the best traditional and delicious specialties.

Start of with the Tortilla Soup, prepared with a chicken and tomato base, served with avocado, cream, dried peppers, cheese and strips of fried tortillas $6.50 US. For an appetizer, try the delicious nachos. Additionally salads, burgers, shrimp and Mexican food demonstrates that Zapata’s leaves no gastronomic stone unturned.
For an entrée, try the house specialty “Pescado Zarandeado,” whole fish fried in oil or grilled with garlic; either one is cooked to perfection for only $14 US!
The Tequila Shrimp stuffed with cheese, wrapped with bacon, with a touch of tequila, served with rice and vegetables or beans. Entrees range from $9.00 US to $25.00 US for the Surf and Turf combination.

Bountiful breakfasts from fresh fruit plates to the classic omelets, include “Alex’s Special” French toast, scrambled eggs and crispy bacon, with maple syrup. Indulge in a national Mexican dish of the Chilaquiles, fresh-made corn tortilla chips cooked with either green or red sauce, served with refried beans and cheese. Breakfast priced from $5.50 to $9.00 for Shrimp Omelet. Perhaps start with a Mimosa from the full bar!
