Country Music Returns to Cabo: Bahia Hotel to Host 2nd Annual Country Songwriters Festival

There is no doubt that country musicians love Cabo San Lucas.  During the past decade, some of the genre’s biggest stars have penned paeans to the Land’s End lifestyle, including Kenny Chesney (“Beer in Mexico”), Easton Corbin (“A Lot to Learn About Livin’”), and Toby Keith…twice (“Cabo San Lucas” and “Stays in Mexico”).

Patrick Davis and Friends headline the 2nd annual Country in Cabo songwriters festival, scheduled to take place April 30 – May 3, 2015 at Bahia Hotel & Beach Club.

And Cabo San Lucas loves them right back, as evidenced by the much anticipated return of the Bahia Hotel & Beach Club’s Country in Cabo weekend songwriters festival.

After the success of last year’s inaugural event headlined by acclaimed singer-songwriter Patrick Davis and Friends, the Bahia has brought back Davis and a few more of his friends for a second edition, with nightly performances and a special songwriting seminar at the boutique hotel’s hip on-site restaurant, Bar Esquina.

Davis, for the uninitiated, is not only a popular performer but also one of the most sought-after songwriters in Nashville, having written chart-topping hits for Jewel, Darius Rucker, and Lady Antebellum, among others. Joining him at Country in Cabo II are the multitalented Django Walker – Texas born singer-songwriter, frontman of the Django Walker Band, and son of country legend Jerry Jeff Walker – as well as fellow rising stars Johnny Bulford, JT Hodges, Matt Warren, Chuck Wicks and Janell Wheeler.

Wicks and Wheeler were late additions, and elevate an already top-shelf lineup with their high-profile résumés: Wicks wrote the hit Stealing Cinderella, and was featured on the reality shows Nashville and Dancing with the Stars; while Wheeler competed on American Idol, and was romantically linked to gridiron star Tim Tebow.

Davis and Friends will perform at 9 p.m. at Bar Esquina on three consecutive nights – Thursday, April 30 to Saturday, May 2 – with the free, open-to-the-public songwriting seminar slated for Sunday, May 3, from 5 – 7 p.m.

Bahia’s onsite restaurant, Bar Esquina, will host the festival, serving up nightly performances along with its customary first-class food and drinks.

The festival’s host, Bahia Hotel & Beach Club, is the premier boutique hotel in Cabo San Lucas, notable for its scenic Médano Beach locale, chic accommodations, lovely pool area, and, of course, Bar Esquina. The latter is among Los Cabos’ most popular fine dining establishments, with a gorgeous 17-seat marble bar, an open kitchen, on-site café, and delicious menu options that run the gamut from gourmet pizzas to lamb chops and filet mignon. Live music is featured five nights per week at Bar Esquina, but last year’s Country in Cabo set the standard for crowd noise and excitement, as women danced gleefully in front of the stage, and seas of appreciative fans swelled the bar area.

It’ll be a tough act to follow, but Country in Cabo II is expected to be even better. Here’s one reason: Bahia Hotel & Beach Club is offering special lodging rates for the duration of the festival, including a 25 percent discount on the best available rate when reservations are made directly through the hotel.  Guests can call 1-866-99-BAHIA or email reservations@bahiacabo.com. The rooms are subject to availability, and some restrictions do apply. To learn more about the Bahia Hotel & Beach Club’s special rates, go to www.bahiaCabo.mx or call +52 (624) 143-1889.
